Namaste!

I am Deria, Romanian, living in Romania, not married, but having a stable relationship here and a beautiful little girl.

I've been dreaming of India for some time now, and I like to think we will get there one day, the sooner, the better.

I would like to spend 2 weeks in the South and 2 weeks in the North. Yet, I have my concerns regarding the physical integrity of our child - I mean, I suppose it's harder for a child to adapt to the many different living habits.

Would it be sheer craziness to travel to India with a 4 year old?

How about finding work in India, would it be possible for a foreigner couple, like us, to stay there longer and get some work?

If so, how?

Shukriya for your answers.

Lots of travellers have visited India with kids. I have seen kids adapting to changes quicker and better than adults. Depends entirely up on your kid.
There is no chance for finding work and on tourist visa it is illegal to work.

No idea how easy it will be without knowing what you actually do. its ok i suppose trying to find work on a tourist visa but current rules will require you to return to Romania to apply for an employment visa. Also your partner may not be entitled to a dependent visa (which wouldn't allow him to work anyway) just because you have an e-visa and will have to find his own job and get his own visa.
meh...

On visa and immigration issues in India, kindly carefully study also:

http://www.immigrationindia.nic.in/,
http://www.mha.nic.in/, notably currently its http://mha.nic.in/ForeigDiv/ForeigHome.html,
and for those of Indian backgrounds over the past few generations, http://moia.gov.in/.

On some general observations on traveling there with children btw, this can never be beaten: Member Dhans's Traveling in India with Kids - a India travel guide for parents, as well as their Journals.
