No idea; just a note that generally speaking, and/but certainly in India, anything can happen.

Traveling anywhere really, but certainly in India, I try to make it a point to arrange my last journey to my exit point so that, if anything screws up for whatever reason, I can make it there by some alternative means; and including the time needed to arrange it (and which certainly in India again might mean more time needed than you might think).

This would hold double- if not triple-true in India. And even if nothing screws up as such, delays (of hours, with any luck) are very common. So again, do not rely on tight clean connections, and certainly not for your flight out (and assuming your flight out is what you are looking at, you in fact didn't say so. It will be, and has to be, a consideration on any journey there, though; just the consequences if you miss your connection would be less drastic, right.)

I personally find there's nothing wrong with having some time to unwind and generally say goodbye to your host country in that place of exit anyway; do some last-minute souvenir hunting, enjoy some of the amenities such as good food or a concert and whatever any such big city will be likely to offer, etc. (Might be nice on your kid, too, instead of being hurled straight on a plane, for another lengthy flight?) So anyway, a window there of a day or two or several won't go amiss.

Hiya...

Rishikesh is known for its spiritual connections...
Dhanaulti is much higher in the hills... On the road connecting Chamba with Mussoorie...

Dhanaulti affords some splendid views, both of the Himalayan peaks on one side, and of the Doon plains on the other...! My hotel terrace, I remember, offered both... And with a drink in my hand, and the freezing cold winds lashing at me, I enjoyed the night lights of Doon while catching the silhouettes of the mighty Himalayan peaks at the same time...! Aaahhh, nostalgia...!!!

Ideally, you could do both Rishikesh as well as Dhanaulti... But as you plan to go further up on NH-58 (Rudraprayag is on NH-58), that is a totally different direction altogether...

About your question; well, yes, you can very easily be back in Delhi by 5 am, even leaving Rudraprayag mid-morning...! But as our good friend, Machadinha said, why the rush...??

Cheers...!!!

Options Enroute...!

Hiya...

From your itinerary, it seems that you plan to spend two nights in Rishikesh while going... And another night in Rishikesh on the way back too...
You might like to stay somewhere enroute for one of those nights instead, say Uttarkashi / Harsil...

Best to spend just that first night in Rishikesh and carry on till one of the above-mentioned places...
And then, onto Gangotri...
If you have the time and the inclination, you might like to explore even beyond Gangotri before turning back...

To save on time, you could do the return to Delhi late late 7th night leaving Haridwar (just 20 km south of Rishikesh) and reaching Delhi the morning of 8th; well in time for your afternoon flight to Bombay (Mumbai)...

Cheers...!
