Hello,my name is Joost from Amsterdam
I am trying to register with irctc. The problem is that the system does not recognise my phone number. I am therefor unable to receive a OTP code for verification. And I need it to book the train tickets.
A fake number (advice from the past?)is therefor not possible and numerous mails to the icrtc helpdesk and phone calls did not have the result I hoped for.

Does anybody know how to fix this or has a route to follow?
A giant online smile and warm greetings as thanks.

Joost

Hello nycank.
I come to the stage that I need to verify my email address ( which worked out well) and then I need to receive an OPT and there it goes wrong. It doesn't recognise my phone number, says it's one digit short ( which it isn't).
Without verification of my number I cannot continue on either irctc or clear trip.

I may be quite wrong, it does happen... , but I think there are more than one "versions" of the IRCTC website floating around on the internet...?

Maybe check if there is an older or more recent one that will work for you?

I seem to remember that someone else had a similar problem, and they "solved" it by setting their "country of residence" to a different location?

No idea if that would work, but maybe the website is not set up correctly for your location and is expecting a different "country code" ?

Good luck, logic goes out the window in India, despite their well educated workforce !

Indeed. Some are dubious in nature. irctc.co.uk is one of those.

Okay, my friend's phones have +31 followed by nine digits. But internally it's area code plus seven or six digit.

Hey Joost,

Would it work if you replace the + (before your country code) with 00 (then your phone number as usual) ??

It creates an extra digit !!

Mark

(From the uk, i re-registered with irctc last year and seem to remember struggling at this point for a while, too  .....  sorry,  cannot now recall how I got round it, but that is just the sort of thing I must have tried !! )

irctc.co.in reworked their whole website. In my experiments yesterday, country code is plugged in by the website.

A few years back, one could buy Indian train tickets with ease via Cleartrip, without any IRCTC registration. Many people found Cleartrip easier to use with foreign payment cards, etc.

Following the IRCTC directive, one now has to register at IRCTC first, and then buy either via them or Cleartrip.

I do find the Cleartrip site works well for me, now I am registered correctly again, and seems easier to navigate for a rambling old man.

I have read posts by folk who don't like Cleartrip, and they don't offer the full range of trains, but you pay your money and take your choice!

How to register irctc online for train tickets?

Off topic.

I used this new iirct site for the first time a couple of days ago. Being a simple trip and knowing the desired trains beforehand, it was pretty easy, but I can't see how to login without making a booking.

If we want to change profile details, maintain passenger lists, etc, then...

Where is the huge login button that must be starting me in the face without my seeing it?
