Employment rights of pregnant worker?

Does anyone have any idea if a pregnant employee can be sacked while she is pregnant in India, or there are any laws protecting her? I am British but working in India on an employment visa and 3 months pregnant. I just wondered if I had any protection, or if no such laws exist here. Thanks!

Compared to the UK, there are hardly any laws effectively protecting you. The company you are working for should have a 'policy' on pregnancies, including time off and stuff. Besides that, it is sometimes a matter of negotiation: what do you want before and after the birth and how important you are to the company become
important factors, obviously.
