Let there be no doubt, whatever my opinion of Norway's politics and their people (mentioned elsewhere on this site ), it (norway) is a very breathtakingly beautiful country.

Fjords are just one aspect of it !

One weekend, I took a trip up the river, and was mesmerized !

In a country that is gifted by nature the vistas that can be exploited to the maximum, the norwegians have thanks to their oil monies, resisted opening resorts and spas that others would be tempted to do so !

Norway is not a cheap country, and by no means a private (or public) day trip chum change. By the time I was back at my base camp, I had spent a pretty penny. I'm told that many a folks spend that kind dosh for a month of stay in Manali or shacks of Goa !

But the trip and experience as Mastercard says..... is priceless !!!

Norway, one of my favourite countries! So many Indians are dreaming of Switzerland when they think of Europe. I'd advice them to visit Norway instead, much more breathtaking landscape!

Norway is not so cold, the climate is influenced by the Gulf Stream.

Last trip was in Fall. My probe-telemetry says not much snow ! Macho snow is in Buffalo Bill's seven feet worth of snow ! You never throw 100 miles pitch at a girl's little league game, you don't dump 10 feet of snow in Norway !

Switzerland is not much different, it's also a very expensive place

I suggest camping or renting huts on camping sites and cooking. Eating out in Norway would kill my savings, too
