Here's the list of UNESCO world heritage sites:

World Heritage List

Let's post our pictures of the sites and see how many we can get on IM. Doesn't matter if they've already been posted, let's just see your pictures.

EDIT: See this post for a list of all sites posted to date (October 2013)

I'll get the ball rolling:

Great thread! I take it that only World heritage sites outside India are covered? Or are India sites to be included?

Couple images from Yellowstone National Park-

a) Old Faithful erupting:

Let's include them, why not? We have 962 to get.

(Edit): Yellowstone looks amazing!

Sure why not, let's not be too strict with the rules. Let's just see those pictures!

It is more amazing than any place I've been to, ever.. More stunning than the Grand Canyon, more 'far out' than Death Valley. Nature's panorama at its most raw and complete- In a few hours one moves from the wide green lamar valley to the glacially cold yellowstone lake to the bubbling hot springs to smoking mountains, clear waterfalls.

Any number of photos cannot do justice to what that place actually is and how it moves you (and mine were taken with a puny 3 megapixel first generation nikon coolpix at the end of it's usable life). Here's Lamar valley to give some idea of the scale - that small car over there is a six meter long Ford F350 truck !

This is a great thread SMT!

I have a few photos to add but they are prints so I need to do some jiggery-pokery to be able to post them here, and then the quality won't be so good. But I'll have a go. Watch this space!

Here is the citadel of Bam, Iran. This photo was taken on 24th December 2003. In the early hours of the 26th, it was struck by a hugely damaging and deadly earthquake. I had left Bam by then and was about 150km away in Kerman but felt it strongly.

Amazing Julia, I remember seeing all the 'before and after' pictures, you were lucky you got to see it and luckier still to have left when you did.
