I feel much obliged to Nick-H, Sama, vaibhav_arora, Govindpuri and Theyyamdancer whose words gave me the courage to write this.

So, here I am, starting a new thread about my travel accounts and reasons behind the question "How did I end up here at Almaty, Kazakhstan?"

Here are some teasers and more to follow...

Arun

You need to change the property of the google plus album to public so we can see the images. Currently they cannot be seen by anyone except you.

Zelyony Bazaar aka Green Market is still up and bustling with activities.

I live a bit far from that place (10-12 Kms). Will click some pictures when I go there next time for purchasing Indian groceries.

Very interesting pictures. Not many people (from outside the former SU) get to Kazakhstan. It looks remarkably modern. Once I changed planes in Almaty but it was in the middle of the night so I didn't see anything (and I didn't have a window seat anyway).

Okay! Mmmm... Where to begin!

Introduction:
I was working with one of the biggest infrastructure companies of India in Hyderabad. My job basically is to Plan/Schedule & Monitor/Control a construction project, usually a large Power Station. I stayed in Hyderabad nearly for about 04 years starting from 2010.

By the end of 2013, my project was nearing completion. At the same time, my parents were busy in finding me a suitable bride. During the first week of January-2014, they found my to-be-wife after a two years long search. Engagement date was fixed in the next month, Feb-2014.

Weeks passed by.

My engagement was over by then.

I had already started conversing with my fianc.

Wedding date was fixed as 01-Jun-2014.

I, at that time, was living alone in an apartment. During a weekend in mid May-2014, I was informed by my Boss that I will have to travel to Jakarta, Indonesia immediately. I clearly wasn't expecting anything like this and he didn't say anything about the purpose of my visit. When I went to my office after that weekend, I came to know that, the management has selected me as a replacement to some guy, working on one of our projects in Indonesia, who had recently resigned his job.

I was happy as well as confused at the same time.

So, the plan was fixed. I had to travel to Indonesia on 22-May-2014. I had to take over the responsibilities of the guy who had resigned. Come back to India on 27-May-2014. After my wedding, go back to Indonesia as soon as possible.

I was really worried and nervous about what to do and what to expect. Everybody started worrying. I convinced everyone that I will be home by 29-May-2014, merely 02 days before my wedding. Interesting isn't it.

I started my journey from the lovely Hyderabad Airport. Reached Jakarta after a stop-over at Kualalumpur. Vehicle was waiting at the airport and took me to Guest House. Got quickly freshened up, went to the office and started my work.

Contrasting Skylines of Jakarta

The 05 days I spent in Jakarta felt like an eternity. The job was over. Finally, the day arrived. I left Jakarta on 27-May-2014 and reached Hyderabad the next day.

My flight to Madurai was on 29-May-2014. I remember roaming around the roads of Hyderabad like a mad man that day. I had to compete a lot of things. I was really exhausted by the end of that day. Flight journey, lack of sleep and Hyderabad's heat made me sick. When I finished all my works including packing, the clock ticked to 02.00 am.

Oh my GOD! I have to be there at the Airport in another 06 hours. I really rued the shortage of time. Finally, I was off to bed.

I couldn't sleep properly and woke up by 04.00 am. I was ready to leave my apartment by 06.00 am. Taxi had already arrived and waiting to take me to Airport. Met some friends along the way and reached Airport by 07.30 am. The flight departed on time and I reached home exactly by 02.00 pm.

I let out a huge sigh of relief.

Thank God.

I am getting married in another 02 days.

What a fantastic beginning Arun. We got a bonus 'dharshan' of Jakarta as well! Am hooked to this thread.

p.s. I love your wedding photo. I assume it was done by a professional (you're probably sitting down with your bride as it's your own wedding)
