Prologue:
It was one mundane day in office, I was thinking of a break from the busy schedule of the office cubicle & as we all know, nothing can refresh your mind more than a trip to the lap of nature; I started to think about places to go.
As I am more inclined to mountains & forests than beaches, I started thinking about hill places. First I thought of Kashmir, but as time was short , had to cancel it. Then got confused between Silk route and Lava-Rishop. Later thinking of the season, (it will be in the end of May) I thought of going for the second plan. And after all our own state is really a box full of treasures for the travel enthusiasts.
I started searching in the net for various information. Destination Lava Lollegaon Rishop thread in IM was full of various information which helped me a lot . I want to thank all those persons who enriched this forum with their valuable comments. Again I want to thank Sovon,CutiePie, Duronto Jajabor,Arjunrobert,Asmit007,S aikatR for helping me by answering lot of questions asked by me in the forum.
For the first day, at first we decided to go to Kolakham. But we had to cancel it because of not getting any booking. Then I thought, as we are going during full moon (Buddhapurnima), it might be a great experience to spend a night by a moonlit mountain river. Hence I decided for Reshikhola for the first day. Our plan is given below-
22th May- Start from Sealdah via Kanchankanya Express.
23rd May- Rach New Mal Junction, proceed towards Reshikhola. If possible go to Sillery gaon & Tinchuley while going to Reshikhola. Though I'm not sure about this.
24th May- Go to Rishop. For elder members, they will go by cab, and we will go by trekking.
25th May- Go to Lava. Visit Chhangey falls.
26th May- Go to Gorumara.
27th May- After completing the morning safari, we'll proceed for Jhallong-Bindu. Then we'll entrain from New Mal Junction in the evening.

Places of stay-
On the first day, we'll be staying at Prakriti River retreat at Reshikhola.
In Rishop, we wanted to stay at Sonar Bangla hotel, but as we did not get reservation, we booked Rishop Tourist Centre.
On the third day in Lava, we'll be staying in the WBFDC cottages(Dukpa 2, Dukpa 3, Dukpa 4 & Gorkha 1).
On the fourth day in Gorumara we'll stay at Kalipur Eco Cottages.

Thanks for your wishes. Actually I'm a very romantic kind of person. And I personally feel that the combination of moon, mountains, rapids & jungle is really magical. Hence, though several persons told me to not go for this place, I chose it. Let's see how it really is.

While at Kalipur, visit Medhla Watch Tower, a few (3 -5) minutes walk from the cottage itself. Spend some time and sighting WL is sure from there.
Regards.

The Forest Authority may not allow to spend the night there and it is also not advisable.

Previously, if you had a booking at Eco- Village Kalipur, you could avail free Elephant Ride next morning as the charges include the cost of ride too. At least I have had that facility while in Kalipur during winter 2009. I can't say if they have withdrawn now.

Hi,
thanks for the update, AFAIK, they provide arrangements for the free elephant ride only, which is included in the package. But we want to do a afternoon safari also, so any idea about how to arrange for the same? And from an another thread, I came to know that the elephant safari will consists of a part of the forest only, we need to book jeep safari for the whole forest. Hence wanted to know about the details of the same.
