  • 17/8: Start at around 10:30/11 AM for NJP after breakfast. Take multiple breaks en-route. Drive to NJP expected to be scenic. Board Padatik Exp. (confirmed)

Comments please? What all places we can visit on the way to NJP on 17th?

http://goo.gl/maps/QsFJD - Is this route good for our return journey?
Apart from the above questions, in view of the recent unrest by Gorkha Janamukti Morcha, do you see any problem in traveling from RBK to NJP by car?

We will be a group of elderly's and kids as well - hence it is important for us to know.

I booked RBK WBFDC online, so if anyone has a contact #, it will be very helpful.
Did you wear the other person's shoe today?

Hi,

We are planning a trip in North Bengal/Sikkim from 19th to 22nd July (arriving 19th morning by Uttarbanga Exp and going back by 2.30 pm flight from Baghdogra on 22nd). We haven't been able to finalise the place yet. Not sure if we should choose the hills because of the landslide fear. OTAH, most of the forest areas seem to be closed for tourists since its monsoon. I have never been to Dooars myself and not sure how should I plan this. Can some Dooars experts may please pitch in and help us plan the trip?

Thanks.

Not too many days in hand. So , if I would have steered clear of the hills, too risky from the POV of weather and road.
Stick to Dooars. A couple of days at Jaldapara/Malangi/Mendabari. A couple of days around Jayanti. An afternoon trip to Shikiajhora may be ? You can consider Raimatang as well , it's unbelievable in the monsoon. Mix and match the above and you will have something. Expect rains, leeches and delays , also expect great green vistas and lots of fun.
Cautionary note : Reaching Bagdogra will be time-consuming and costly.

Thanks Somnath.

I am finally contemplating 2 days at Kalimpong and do nearby site seeing and mostly relax and then 1 day at Ddarjeeling. My wife is a high priestess of Darjeeling and we must as well pay a respect for the nth time.

I was wondering if you know of any good budget hotel in Kalimpong. Thanks in advance.

Define what's budget . I usually stay at either Morgan House or Hill Top. Both nicely run by WBTDC.
