Just spent a couple of days at the great city. I went there for a job and had a little time for exploring the ghats etc. This was not the first visit for me but I have never seen the city more sad, angry and preoccupied. Perhaps I am wrong and it was just my imagination ,reflection of my own mood , friends, you decide yourself ... I have failed to see a smile , now it's your turn to tell

The boy monk, face unusually glum ...

the prayer has an element of desparation

Tell me o siren , what are your woes

The clouds look rather ominous

The usually chatty boatman has a hard jaw

Even this fun game had a grim element of cut throat competition ...

It seems that no one wants to see the blue morning anymore

The aarti, a solemn prayer

Why these beautiful eye are moist ?

Why this pensive supplication ?

Why this fear ?

Spectacular photographs! Very moving. And yes, interesting "take" on whose "face" you were seeing . . . the face of Varanasi or your own . . . and why not a little of both Monsoon time there is another time . . . the energy is different . . . and I think the faces you've captured reflect that Thank you for sharing these

Thanks Darmabum. Yes the interpretation is surely influenced by my own menatl state . Happy that you have enjoyed. I know about your love of the city and I respect you for that.

Fantastic pics, you really are very talented.
Lord, Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.
