Why not Delhi? I have a female friend who speaks fluent Hindi, but she will be staying in Rishikesh.

IM me Facebook name, I will get two of you in touch. Two precautions: there mustn't be 1) getting to know India by home staying and befriending whom god sends in your direction and 2) kundalini awakening/exploring spirituality. The woman is an experienced yoga teacher, so if you need Hindi and some practical advice, you will get it, otherwise you could be immersed into the spirituality stuff and that is not what I recommend doing.

I mean, no such. If you stay away from extremes, this could be enriching, if not, situations may arise.

There is a home stay in Varanasi that I have stayed in. Have also written about them in my blog. Very nice place and very nice people.

Maybe your friend can talk to them (Ashok) about the costs...

I am extremely sorry horizon rays. Somehow I mistook Varanasi for Haridwar. I was talking about a homestay in Haridwar.

Guess I was a bit tipsy when I read your post. Apologise.
