I'm looking for a cafe at Assi Ghat where I can park my laptop for a few hours and work on my writing. (Wifi and electrical outlets please) Any suggestions? My back hurts from trying to work on a little table by my bed.

Maybe Open Hand? a 5 min walk from the ghats. I sat on the outside terrace which is pretty cramp and I hated the chairs, but they have inside seating too, a few couches/cushions I think? Anyway inside will give you a better view of your screen. They had free wifi too but ask that you buy something every hour?

Thank you. I was going to check them out today. A lot of the tourist places aren't open yet because it's not tourist season yet and local people don't seem to have the bad habit of sitting with their laptops all day.

Ok so I went to Open Hand Cafe. It's a very nice very Western style cafe with VERY nice A/C, but the table are too small for working on laptops, and they didn't have any fresh squeezed juice. I went across the street to The Mark cafe, which is similar but with fresh squeezed juice. They have some tables that are big enough for a laptop, but they were in the sun and it got too hot too fast. I also looked at Aum Cafe, but they don't seem to be open ever. The local kids said it's only open until 3pm, but when I went during the day it was closed anyway. Maybe I'm just too early in the season. Still searching for a laptop friendly cafe.

Oh I just saw your thread on Brown Bread! Hadn't seen it before I posted this!

I know you mentioned Assi Ghat, but if you don't mind the walk to Dashaswamedh Ghat the Brown Bread bakery is quite a decent place to hang around for a few hours. There's comfortable seating (some nice cushions on the floor) and decent wifi. I managed to book tatkal train tickets using their wifi when I was there!
