You should not spend more than 2 days in Nainital. You should definitely stay in Kausani. Chaukori gives you a closer view of the snow peaks. Binsar has natural beauty, so you have to make a choice, you need to stay atleast one day there.

thanks pap,

please advice whether 2 Naintal , 2 nights kausani , 1 night in chaukori and 1 night in binsar is ok or it will be possible to cover chaukori for kausani/binsar in one day

you should try to stay in all these places just like you have mentioned, besides these places are too far apart for a day's visit, if you do not stay atleast for a day, you will not be able to enjoy the beauty.

can anyone suggest,
1.Nainital to Chaukori via Jageshwar -- is it doable in same day ?
2.Binsar to Ramnagar -- is it doable ?

It isn't worth doing it in a single day. You should at least plan to stay a day in Chaukori to be able to enjoy the place. If you plan to do it in one day, you might as well not go, it will seem like a waste of time and money.

The road is usually kept open round the year, except in case of very heavy snowfall, when it may take a day or two to clear it out.

I am so so sorry to be posting this late but for the guys planning a December trip to Gadhwal and Kumau I have an experience to share.....I visited the most amazing part of India too good to be true experience though being a pure veggie a Vaishnav infact it was tough when it came to choices as it was very little... We started from Delhi to Haridwar which was a spiritual experience bathing daily in the Ganga river in your own ghaat with a cute Shiv temple to offer the jal was amazing the street food was the best we ever had in the whole trip. The ancient temples here give you a feeling of the presence of the Gods no wonder its called Haridwar......then we journeyed to Rishikesh by a tourist car a similar enthralling experience with Aarti of the Ganga river by some great Sant Ashram I forget the name though the Ram Jhula and Lakshman jhula and their mythological and historical importance....I can go on n on...but what we were not aware was that these tourist car operate from haridwar to mussourie and dhanolti as well we heard of snow fall in mussourie and decided to take a detour from our plans and go for a day long drive till dhanolti will post the pics we were really very lucky to have experienced the terrain of Gadhwal the roads were closed beyond Dhanolti will upload the pics for sharing the experience....The next day was for River rafting in Rishikesh and Har ki paudi Aarti and then moving ahead to Kathgodam in train to cover Kumaun..what we misinterpreted was the date of the bookings we came to know that we had mistakenly booked tickets after 12 night train for the wrong date as per our schedule now we missed the train and so had little option we impulsively booked a state transport bus to haldwani which left at 9.30 it was a real chilling night and though the roads were foggy we had a smooth ride and reached Haldwani at 4 in the morning the next day. Amazingly to reach Binsar where we had our bookings, we got a tourist car and the rates are all pre fixed so no nonsense and bargaining required... the journey through the mountains and forests passing through Almora and the proper jungle flora fauna we reached Binsar Eco Camp at Dhaulchhina first we were like where have we come its a very basic kinda place we had booked Swiss Cottages and were tired to the core due to extensive journeying..You people wont believe I fell asleep in the lawn soaking in the sun :D only to be woken up by the singing of Ravi one of the co-owners at this beautiful camp managed by Mr Negi and his sons who are owners and the caretakers themselves ...Homely kitchen where you can wander make demands for menus pamper yourself mahn...daily bonfire nights with amazing singing and dancing with interesting interacions these guys know how to break ice ....Ravi took us to a jungle trek and I don't have words to describe the view you can actually see the entire Himalayan Range its ethereal....We visited Jageshwar and Patal Bhuvaneshwar and proceeded towards Munsyari looooooong drive through ever turning narrow roads up the mountains but when we reached our eyes beheld the Himalayas from a handshake distance. We looked up only to see the snow falling bonfire hot pakodas steaming tea and snow flakes on the compound if i could write volumes I would on my experience its poetic the stars in the sky the Himalayas the cold weather...We then moved back to Nainital as we had a day in between to reach Corbett where we planned our New Years Eve. Nainital is a simple but beautiful place brimming with enthusiasm and itsy bitsy markets I shopped for whatever I could hats, purses, shoes, woollens, candles...The visit to Corbett Park was a disappointing one we couldn't spot a tiger though we did have an experience of the dense jungle and Sitavani it was scary to think of a late evening in the dense forests but we did see people flocking with their personal cars for a camping experience in the deep jungle.. We had a pleasant New Years eve with Kumauni folk dancing and live guitarist playing the latest chartbusters and people joining him for a sing along session what we missed in the journey after Haridwar was the food and we ate to our hearts content at our resort....they spoiled us for choice with special stoves for our Vaishnav food taking care not to hurt our religious sentiments amazing !!!! we even got natural honey extracted by one of the hotel staff from the jungle only for 500 rs a kg then we came back to Delhi with pleasant memories......

I am assuming that you love to stay in jungle, from the places you have chosen. My suggestion would be to include Kausani, Binsar, and Mukteshar. Chaukari will give you a very nice view of the Kumaon range, but you need to view the sunrise from there. Also, Chaukori would be 100-odd kms from Kausani and a short visit might not do justice. Rather, spend more time in Binsar, and please book the KMVN there, it will be an amazing experience.

Hello Abhishek,

Based on my understanding, the areas that you want to visit in 7N-8D span will be very hectic. And you won't be able to complete all.

Example Itinerary #1

Day 1: Delhi to Ranikhet express, overnight journey.
Day 2: Reach Kathgodam early in the morning. Go to Binsar. Night stay at Binsar.
Day 3: Visit Zero Point at Binsar to view the Sunrise. Come back and after lunch travel to Chaukori night stay at Chaukori.
Day 4: In the morning have a good walk into the hills, lots of birds and great view of Mountains, Sunrise. After breakfast, visit Patal Bhubaneshwar and local places. Night stay at Chaukori.
Day 5: Early start for Munsiyari. Reach Munsiyari. Places to visit: https://www.tripadvisor.in/Attractions-g2282655-Activities-Munsiyari_Pithoragarh_District_Uttarakhand.html
Day 6: View Sunrise and leave for Kausani. Night stay at Kausani.
Day 7: Leave for Nainital early morning. Reach Nainital and sightseeing (1 day is not enough).
Day 8: Start for Kathgodam.

Example Itinerary #2

Day 1: Delhi to Ranikhet express, overnight journey.
Day 2: Reach Kathgodam early in the morning. Reach Nainital & Nainital Sightseeing (Won't be able to see most of the places).
Day 3: Nainital to Bhimtal, Sattal, Nakuchiatal. Night stay at Nainital.
Day 4: To Kausani via Almora; Night stay at Kausani.
Day 5: Kausani to Chakouri.
Day 6: Chakouri to Munsiyari.
Day 7: Munsiyari.
Day 8: Munsiyari – Binsar
Day 9: Visit Zero Point at Binsar to view the Sunrise. After lunch - Kathgodam for return journey.

For hotels I'd suggest KMVN in all locations except Munsiyari and Nainital. Milam Inn is what I'd suggest for Munsiyari (Best view of Panchachuli Mountain range). Note, all KMVNs' should include Dinner with the room rent except Munsiyari.
For Nainital follow TripAdvisor or Booking.com or in this forum.
For Cars:
Anand Goswami - 09568274128 / 09719639279 / 09456722952 (I'd say he is the best in business)
Pradyuman - 09411322992
Babbu - 09719223476
Anil Bisht - 09719276921
Anil – 09719276904

If you try to remove some places from your journey then it would be much more pleasant. Do consider that thought.

I've done my honeymoon there in Feb 2015 and my itinerary was:
Day 1: Day 1: Delhi to Ranikhet express, overnight journey.
Day 2: Kathgodam to Binsar. Night stay at Binsar.
Day 3: Visit Zero Point in Binsar to view the Sunrise. Come back and after lunch travel to Chaukori night stay at Chaukori.
Day 4: Patal Bhubaneshwar and local places. Night stay at Chaukori.
Day 5: Early start for Munsiyari. Reach Munsiyari.
Day 6: Full Day at Munsiyari.
Day 7: Early Start from Munsiyari to Nainital (This journey is the biggest almost 10 hours, we started around 7 AM)
Day 8: Nainital full day; take rest and visit local places, try local cuisines.
Day 9: Half day at Nainital, visit Zoo. Via Bhimtal (we did Paragliding there) reach Kathgodam.
Day 10: Reach Delhi and start for Kolkata.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
