We started on a cold chilly morning around 8 am from Vasant Kunj, Delhi. The road till Meerut was good but after that it was horrible. We stopped at Bikanervala restaurant, Meerut for food. We were disappointed with orders of Puri with Subji and Paneer dosa. Our tea bag Chai was a letdown.
We did manage to reach Haridwar at 2.30 pm. We checked in Rio hotel in Haridwar. After a wash, we headed to Gujarawala ashram located on the banks of river Ganga. It was a short drive from our hotel. We finished our puja around 5 pm. The statues of Lord Hanuman and lord Krishna are very beautiful and divine.
Next we ventured to the main market of holy city. The market was bustling with people of all walks. My wife got into shopping mode. We bought a brass statue of Lord Ganesha for our friend. We had a great time shopping in the cold winter of Haridwar. We were hungry after all the shopping and walking. We were recommended to visit Hoshairpur restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious. We ordered Gobi Aloo, Paneer Matar and Dal Makhani and toppled with green salad and Tandoori Rooti. We ended our dinner with Kheer, Indian rice sweet. Kheer was yummy! We returned to hotel and retired to bed early.
Next morning I went for a short walk towards the railway station and bus stand. I did click a couple of pictures. After a good breakfast of Gobi Paronthas in Rio hotel, we headed to Mata Mansadevi and Chandi Devi Mandir. We brought combined Darshan tickets for both Mandirs of Rs. 210 per person. The first stop was Mansa devi Mandir. It was not crowded during the morning (I was told that it is very crowded during peak season of June and July). We took the Udan Khatola (cable car) to Mansadevi Mandir which was 300 meters high. We spend about 40 minutes in the Mansadevi temple. We had to take a van for 3 kilometers before we headed for another round of cable car ride to Chandi devi temple. I prefer the Chandi devi temple. I could not click pictures as it is prohibited to so. We finished our temple visit around 11.30 and it was time for us to head back to Delhi. We stopped in Bikano restaurant for tea and snacks. Vegetarian Chowmein and Dahi Chaat was standard fare. We reached Delhi by 6.30 pm.
I would like to conclude that we had a great time in holy pilgrimage city of Haridwar. However the state of road in Uttarakand is rather BAD. I would recommend to take train instead. Finally I would like to my cousins for making this trip possible.

The pictures will follow in my next post.
