Alert for sand storms for next two days

The sand filled air blowing in from Pakistan and Afghanistan is causing raise in temperatures and sudden storms in the State. This pall of sand in the air has caused the air quality to deteriorate considerably and even the rains in Nainital region of about 16mm during last 24 hours have failed to bring down the pollution level or the haze caused by it. The met department has predicted continuation of such weather conditions for next two days also and warned of squalls hitting the region during this period - here is the link to the news in Hindi - https://www.jagran.com/uttarakhand/d...-18085090.html

Mansarovar pilgrims airlifted to Gunji to avoid weather related risks
PITHORAGARH: A 57-member second batch of Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrims was airlifted on early Monday morning by IAF helicopters from Naini Saini airstrip here to Gunji base camp to avoid weather related risks along the treacherous trek route. Four IAF choppers ferried the 57 pilgrims to Gunji at around 7 AM this morning, Pithoragarh District Magistrate C Ravishankar said.
Though the trek route from Lakhanpur to Gunji is alright, pilgrims were airlifted to avoid weather related risks and also because it would save them some time which they could use to enjoy the homestay facilities at Nabhi and other high altitude villages, he said.
It is a hard 18-km steep trek from Lakhanpur to Gunji. The second batch of pilgrims had reached Pithoragarh Tourist Rest Centre of Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), the nodal agency for the Yatra via Almora last evening, the official said.
"The airlift is meant to facilitate home stay for pilgrims in high altitude villages on the route and avoid hard trek for the pilgrims" said KMVN GM T S Martolia - here is the link to the news - https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/64629370.cms

There's Natraj chowk from where buses towards Chamba and most of the share taxis to anywhere in the hills depart. All other buses depart from the main bus-stand (in google maps, search 'Rishikesh Bus Stand')

A handful buses to other destinations in the hills, especially after early morning also depart from Natraj Chowk - no fixed rule about it, as far as I know (or if there is, it's beyond the capability of my little brain).

Then there's junction of Dehradun Road & Haridwar Road, from where the newspaper jeeps depart at 1-2 AM. Can get this by searching 'City Center Rishikesh' on Google Maps. Sometimes, there are shared jeeps from this point early morning as well. As soon as market opens, all shared jeeps traffic shifts to Natraj Chowk.

In short:
For early morning bus, you want to go to Bus stand.
For 1-2 AM shared jeep, go to City Center point.
For shared jeeps in morning, Natraj Chowk is the place to go.
