We are two persons..I will be visiting Delhi on 13th may..I have 4-5 days in hand ..I want to vsiit uttarakhand ..I have planned to take a bus/ train from Delhi to dehradun on 13th late night.my plan is as follows:

14 may: reach early morning to dehradun by bus/train from Delhi..hire car from dehradun and move to Mussorie..full day sightseeing at Mussorie.night stay Mussorie.. I think 1 full day will be enough to cover all places of Mussorie. (Car hire for 1 day from dhradun to Mussorie and sightseeing)

15 may: Mussorie to rishikesh by shared vehicle/bus..sightseeing in rishikesh..overnight in camp..( will I get shared car/ bus??)

16 may: morning river rafting..afternoon rishikesh to Delhi via haridwar. Will I need private cab for whole day? Or can I get shared vehicles from rishikesh to haridwar and then haridwar to Delhi..

Is the above plan ok?? Or do I need to book a car for the entire trip i.e from Delhi to Delhi??

I have total 4 days in hand..I can plan some other trip also leaving the above..I am not considering Rajasthan as it would be too hot in summers.. is there a better plan in uttarakhand or any other place which can be done from Delhi in 4-5 days.. we don't want to visit wild life sanctuaries.. please suggest..

There are a couple of overnight trains from Delhi to Dehradun - the faster Nanda Devi Express, and the slower Mussorie Express.

Once in Dehradun, you can get a car to Mussorie, including with OLA outstation.

Now, you have two choices. Either spend the night in Mussorie, or in Dehradun. Both are equally plausible, unless you want to do some sightseeing in the morning as well.

Reg. Mussorie to Rishikesh, you may or may not get shared transport or bus. But you will easily get it to Dehradun, and from Dehradun to Rishikesh.

Reg. cab for the whole day in Rishikesh - depends on how many destinations you want to visits, and how much time you are spending at one place. Obviously, cab for the whole day becomes less worth while if you are visiting few destinations, or are spending a lot of time at one place.

You can travel by bus or cab from Rishikesh to Haridwar, and catch one of the above mentioned trains to Delhi.

You don't need cabs for the whole journey - it will be throwing money into the drain, as well as uncomfortable seating journeys.

If you don't like travelling by train, and happen to live near the Airport or Gurgaon, you could consider flying. Still better than cab.

PS: Dehradun and Haridwar are tourist destinations in themselves. Dehradun is not as peaceful as it used to be, but there are places worth visiting in Dehradun.
PS: Mussorie is totally overrated as a destination. If you're going that side, and want to visit Rishikesh, - there's a nice resort in Narendra Nagar, or you could head to Chamba, Kanatal, or Dhanaulti.

Please ask questions about other destinations on other threads.

Uttarajhand

Mussorie doesnt have much to offer as such.

Rishikesh and hills beyond it are much better.

Would be better to go Rishikesh and beyond as you dont have much time in your hand.

It would be very tiring otherwise.
