Thats great ... its exciting to hear that .. I hav booked GMVN hotels for our stay & they are asking me if they should arrange for the rafting as well ... what do u suggest? sld i go thru GMVN or sld it be with somebody else? not sure how it works? .. what are charges for the rafting there? ..

I m placed at GMVN hotels & I am told by GMVN folks that the rooms are on banks of the river & its very awesome ... We'll reach at kaudiyala at around 12ish & we'll start the rafting after lunch & that night we r placd at Kaudiyala ... do you think the rafting will go from Kaudiyala to Rishikesh (as u mentioned in ur reply above) or wld it be some shorter trip?

jitendra,
You don't need to book the rafting with GMVN now, you can do it when you reach Kaudiyala too, no problem.
You cud shop around, but generally the other camps have packages which include room, board, and rafting - just rafting might be an expensive affair. Plus AFAIK GMVN is the cheapest, so might as well go with them - I'm just saying you don't need to pay upfront (but what you cud do now is find out if it works out cheaper as a package, or does stay plus rafting add up to the same?).
The accom is in huts or tents, between the road and the river, i.e in rows.
All GMVN's rafting trips start at Kaudiyala itself, as do most others.

Since you have decided to stay in GMVN then nothing wrong in booking in advance. Their rates are competitive, rafts are good and top of all, guides are well experienced........ a strong prerequisite for amateur rafters.

They usually run full river course from Marine drive ( 3-4 km down from Koudiyala) to Rishikesh or half river course either from Marine Drive to Shivpuri or Shivpuri to Rishikesh depending upon time and budget…

If doing half course Shivapuri-Rishikesh stretch is recommended.

Thanks Dilliwala & Rawat ...

Dilliwala, I hav already booked GMVN rooms & understand that they chg Rs.400 for River rafting per person .. maybe its late for me to cancel booking & take the package ..

Do u guys know what stretch do they cover in this chg of Rs.400 ... not sure but I feel having read somewhere that they cover 12-13 kms ... that must be kaudiyala to Rishikesh - i guess so?

What are the timings of river rafting there?

Oh go ahead then.
I stayed there once 4 years ago, and all I know is what they told me - they start at Kaudiyala.
