From Kausani: Is it Maktoli or Panwali Dwar blocking the view? Update: Panwali
As we go eastward, towards binsar, chaukori, pindari, munsyari....the location of nanda khat, panwali and maktoli keeps changing in relation to Nanda devi. Thats becauae of perspective change.

Adding the area map here. I found it to be absolutely the beat graphic for locating peaks in relation to each other, and their directions.

This image was shot from the base of Changuch, while climbing from pindari to lawn gad side.

So close, but still not visible.

Another view from Trails pass. This perspective is similar to Chowkori.

Shot by dcsarco @flickr in 1978, 4 years before the sanctuary closed. A very interesting image as it is shot from Devistan, another peak inside the sanctuary, so the perspective is unique. Angle wise, this will be as if you shot it from Trishul. So we can see west face on the left and south face on the right. And the full mountain

By the way, Devistan devides inner sanctuary wall from the outer sanctuary wall.

Nanda Devi North face. You won't find many pictures of the north face, because its not visible from the outside. This one is taken from inside the sanctuary.
This picture is the opposite side of the picture above.

Great stuff.

I get the point about not seeing the full mountain most of the time, most people are happy with a glimpse of just the peaks . Driving from Chaukori to Kotmanya to Dharmghar (the back road), one can see them most of the way.

This particular picture is labelled as Nanda Devi on the net. It does look like her. But it is not her. It is Trishul.

This is arguably the best view. In any case, the most common shot. This is from Auli or Garson bugyal, west basically. You see quite a lot of her from this vantage.

Or this from Auli. Even Dharansi pass won't give you such a clean shot, however near it may be from the peak.

From camp II, Changabang. I find this image absolutely wonderful. There are no clouds, and what a rare POV.
Changabang lies on the west-north wall of the sanctuary. It is part of the ring of peaks that form the wall...it makes the wall. It does look like a clean line of sight in this picture, however, its not possible to enter the basin from here.
