Few months back we (me and my husband) had an excellent time in visiting the places kakragad, deoriataal, tunganath and chandrashila.

On 11th june we boarded a morning flight for delhi from kolkata. from there we took a blueworld travels (09212141839) ac bus for haridwar. we reached haridwar, late at night, around 10.30pm.

we had to do some running to find a hotel and then a travel agent...
we had a talk with amba travels (09412071268)for 6 days 5 nights for rs.11000

early morning we visited the haridwar ghats and after some breakfast started for kakragad. we were late to reach kakragad due to heavy rains, roads were blocked... we took the way through rajaji national park...

we had booked mr yashpal singh negi's tent (09412909399). We were around 6 hours late for the rains ..he was waiting for us..giving us calls about our whereabouts..finally we reached there at around 9.30 pm..What a warm welcome and a cozy environment !! A perfect moonlit night with the sweet sounds of mandakini river flowing..seemed we have reached somewhere out of this world.

next day we thought of taking some rest and visiting the nearby hills for birdwatching (we are not professional birdwatcher)..yellow billed blue magpie, paradise flycatcher, crested kingfisher, common kingfisher and golden oriole are the ones i liked most.. enjoyed the aloo paratha in morning, chicken-rice in afternoon cooked by negiji's wife with a garwali flavor .

the very next day we planned to visit deoriataal. We went upto saari village..there had some breakfast and started trekking...negi ji was with us and it is a fantastic experience to walk through the woods with negiji beside us. He is a brilliant in his field...we watched so many birds there specially woodpeckers ,wrablers ,laughing thrush, niltava ,...
my life’s first trek...walking walking and walking....

finally we reached a lush green valley so open so beautiful with a lake in between...only a light silver line of choukhamba was visible (luck did not favour us here ) ... only 2shops were there, had some tea. there were clouds in the sky and we did not bring any raincoat with us...left after spending an hour or two...

while returning we visited onkareshwar temple(winter abode of lord kedarnth) in ukhimath and came back to kakragad. That afternoon and evening were so beautiful...it rained very heavily..we were sitting inside our “sparrow tent” and watched the rains falling on mandakini river with alu pakoras and steaming tea...

next day very early we started for chopta valley. Reached there at around 6 am had some breakfast..started walking for tunganath. The climb was really steep and deoriataal was nothing compared to this.

Very less people were on the way..me and my hubby walking along the forest...the other side kedarpeak, kedardome, Bhagirathi 1,2,3 (?), mandani (?) ,choukhamba , sudarshan (?), all shining and glittering ...what a view !

Finally reached our destination... we stayed in bhagat singh negi ‘s (09458875608) chandrashila hotel, a four bed very simple room for rs 300 . went to the temple for offerings
.. sat on the huge rock behind the temple...from where chandrashila was visible on one side and infront huge grazing area and after that an excellent 180 degree view of all the peaks..roamed around aimlessly..saw a pair of rosefinch and a pair of turtle dove .in the afternoon it started to become cloudy and really cold.. that day from the hotel verandah we saw one best sunset in my life as if a fire has lit up in the sky...

The night was a bit cloudy but as it passed moonlit choukhamba became visible...lovely ...mindlblowing...breathtaking ...
Nextday during the dawn i saw Himalayan tahr in the grazing area...heard my footsteps and vanished...then a magnanimous sunrise was kept for us....we then decided to go to chandrashilla...started walking quite late..reached in around 40 mins...the other side was cloudy but it seemed we reached the top of the world...what an experience! ! I can never forget that feeling...i cherish that moment always and will forever...

From there we came back to chopta, then to kakragaad took our luggage and left for rudraprayag. That night we stayed in rudraprayag ..the next early morning we left for haridwar..reached haridwar during noon, went to ghat in the evening for aarti .. at around 8pm left for station to avail our train.

Hi aditiban

would it be possible for you to kindly upload the snaps in IM itself? I am having problems with my internet and flickr seems to be not working at this time.

Go to the 'post reply' button below. You will see one icon in the top row which says as 'attachment' (looks like coil). Once you click on that the system will let you upload 5 different pics at a time (a new window will open). You can browse the location of the pics from your hard drive. Once you click on upload for the set of 5 or less pics, it will show 'uploading files - please wait'. Once that is done, you can close the window and post the message or you can again add a set of 5 more snaps by following the same process.

Hope this helps.

You can first try with one snap and see if it works. If it does, then start uploading in a batch
