Dear all,
Will be great to know about official status of the treks that are not possible now due to a ban on overnight stay in meadows by High court of Uttarakhand. Which treks are allowed? Is there a workaround?
What’s the status on the following treks?
Kuari pass
Dodi tal
Dayara (has meadows)
Garsan bugyal
Har ki doon, Pindari?
Any other?

Thanks,
Nde

I don't have the answer to your question but wondering why Dodital is on this list. I do not recall any bugyal stay involved with it. Of course, dayara bugyal is nearby and can be combined but that's an option - not a requirement....

can say for sure that har ki dun is allowed. We did the borasu pass trek in september which passes through har ki dun (camped there too). No clue about the rest of them in your list. Also Rupin pass is allowed too where you cross into himachal pradesh by the end of 1st day. so no problem there.

Hi all

You will definitely not find any problem on all these treks due to UK government ban on camping in Bugyals.

Kedarkantha Trek
Brahmatal Trek
Nag tibba Trek
Har ki Dun Trek
Rupin Pass Trek

The majorly effected trek is Roopkund, otherwise, most of the treks are good to go. So need not worry.

Pindari trek is going on as usual, just came back from Sunderdhunga.
The banned list should include: Roopkund
Also my contact in Ukhimath tells me that Nandikund, Mandani Valley and Panwali Kantha are banned for now

My inputs from a failed Pangarchula trek...

1. Kuari Pass and Pangarchula are definitely affected by the ban. The regular campsites at Khullara and Gelgad are considered bugyals and no camping is permitted there.

2. We stayed at a jungle campsite about 45 mins before Khullara. It was a longer walk to Kuari pass but doable.

3. Pangarchula is impossible though - we did a Stok Kangril like summit attempt. Started walling at 2am! Still none could get to the summit in the turnback time of 10 hrs.
