Hi All,

Hope you are doing well. This year I am planning to do a high altitude expedition over 6000 mtrs and I was searching for some non technical peaks as we dont have any technical certifications but we have high altitude trekking experience like Auden's col. I found Rudargaira, Stok kangri and Mt Kalnag. As I already did Auden's col so dont want to go to the same region again....so Rudargaira is out of the list. But garwal himalaya is always my most favorite region in the world and that makes the Black Peak my obvious choice. but I have some doubts with this peak.

1. Do we need permission from IMF to climb Mt Kalnag? I looked into some links provided by JP in this forum and also searched the IMF website as well but could not find the answer. In IMF website this peak is listed in the 'Other Peaks' section. What does that mean?

2. Is this expedition non technical? I found a full video in youtube on this expedition but could not figure it out properly.

May you people please help me in this regard?

Thanks in advance.

Shamik.

1) No permission required.

2) Harish Kapadia describes it as an easy climb with one last steep slope near the summit. Beware of crevasses.

I've seen the video too. When are you planning? I have similar plans.

@Dilliwala, thank you for the update. Now I need to find some trekking agencies who can arrange this expedition.

@Legless Soul, we are targeting September October this year. Before that we cannot manage leaves. Not sure whether this is doable in October, need to check with the trekking agencies.

That's absolutely fine I am thinking about the same. However you need a good HAP and few porters (easily available at Sankri). If it is possible to join you guys please let me know.
