Hi All,

I am planning for my honeymoon trip to beautiful kumaon around mid of March. I can spent 8 nights from Delhi to Delhi.

I was never been in Kumaon before so I am not much familier with the places and their beauty. Hence I need your help to plan my honeymoon trip to make it special.

After visiting the threads in this site I have choosen 3 places - Binsar, Munsiyari and Chaukori. In each places I want to spent atleast 2 nights.

I will be reaching Delhi on Morning at around 11 am. Will it be possible to reach any of the places above or I need a break journey. Someone of you suggested in another thread to stay at Bhimtaal. Depending on your comments/suggestions I have Planned something like this , please suggest if this is OK

Day 1 Delhi To Bhimtaal
Day 2 Bhimtaal To Binsaar
Day 3 Binsaar S/S
Day 4 Binsaar To Chaukori
Day 5 Chaukori S/S
Day 6 Chaukori To Munsiyari
Day 7 Munsiyari S/S
Day 8 Munsiyari To Somewhere for break journey
Day 9 Back to Delhi

My other concern is the transport mode from delhi and back .. please suggest that also.

Also, is KMVN accomodation good enough for honeymoon stay.

Please please suggest me !!!!!

In my opinion you are rushing it too much. At the end of each day, you'll be dead tired (except Day 3, 5 & 7)

It's your honeymoon, be slow, have fun and soak in the experience....

God willing, you'll get plenty of time to do other such hectic tours in your life.
I did not fully understand the dread term "Terminal Illness" until I saw Terminal 1 D of Delhi Airport.

Atmodip, your schedule looks ok. If you want to drop something, then drop Munsyari and add nights at the other places.

Day 8 - Jageshwar would be quite suitable.

From Delhi to Haldwani/Kathgodam, you can either take deluxe buses or trains. However none leave around 11 am. Buses leave in the morning or at night. Check the train times on IR website.

KMVN higher-end rooms are perfectly decent.

Dilliwala,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Can you please tell me approximately how much time it will take for travelling to chaukori from binsar, munsiyari from chaukori etc ?

Also, Binsaar, Munsiyari and chaukori being choice, can any body please chalk out a plan better than the one i shared ?

Can I book a cab directly from delhi ? How much that might cost ?

Since it is your honeymoon do not make the trip very hectic. If ou have say 9 night stays split it between Kausani Binsar and may be Chakouri at best.
Thanks,
Deep

Binsar is quite a nice place in the middle of forest, there are some lovely options there as well with great meals and just unwind in the wild there. You and your wife can have a very good time there. You can either stay in Khali Estate or Binsar Retreat. I have personally stayed in Binsar Retreat and I know that they have really good cottages and tents and their food is really elaborate and nice. KMVN Binsar although they have better location then Binsar Retreat. KMVN would not be able to offer that kind of service or food as compared to Binsar retreat.

Munsiyari has no good option for honeymoon, although the location is really beautiful. KMVN has rooms there but are quite basic. The other ZAra resort or the wavfarer resort are also not upto mark in their service & quality.

This is my personal experience, rest is individual taste ....

Binsar-Chaukori - 3 to 3.5 hrs.
Chaukori-Munsyari - same.

Your plan looks ok to me.

You can, but it's really no point and a waste of cash since you can easily cover Delhi to Haldwani/Kathgodam by other means. Better to hire a car for a round-trip of the hills. In any case you'd need a car to go upto Binsar as no public transport can enter the sanctuary section.

Hi All, Thanks a lot for your useful suggestion and tips.

But now I am a bit confused, please help me !!

@deep , I understand your point and hence I am thinking to cut off Munsiyari from my plan. So will this be OK

Day 1 Delhi ( Will reach around Morning 11 Am) To Bhimtaal
Day 2 Bhimtaal To Binsaar
Day 3 Binsaar S/S
Day 4 Binsaar To Chaukori
Day 5 Chaukori S/S
Day 6 Chaukori
Day 7 Chaukori To Nainitaal ( is it possible to cover)
Day 8 NainiTaal
Day 9 Back to Delhi ( train at evening )

I have added nainitaal in list as I am not sure if my wud be wife will be comfortable in the nature surrounding so long. Nainitaal will give us feeling within people ...

Please tell me if I am doing right or not.

@Kapsun, thanks for sharing your personal view. I agree that the service could not be the same, so as the tariff. Binsar retreat will be a bit costly for me. I think I wud be able to compromise with odds of KMVN Binsar. I am dropping Munsiyari as per your suggestion. Hope 3 night stay at Chaoukori will be worth.

@Dilliwala, thanks again for the info.
@Tilak, thak you too ...

now the part I am concerned most.
please provide me a solid plan for Delhi to Binsaar and Nainitaal to delhi return. please consider i will be reaching delhi at around 11 am on first day and i will catch train at around 5 pm while returning on last day from delhi. if I took train to Kathgoodam, I hope i will not have to stay at bhimtaal and will reach binsaar directly from Kathgoodam.

Hence please please suggest me the best way to reach binsaar and returning back.

I am eagerly waiting for your feedback ....

How are you reaching there?

Day 2 Bhimtaal To Binsaar:
Assume 4 hours if you want to enjoy the views at Ramgarh

Day 3 Binsaar S/S:
I would recommend KMVN. Thats the one inside the jungle. Other properties are a sham. No power in KMVN but the location of property is great.

Day 4 Binsaar To Chaukori

Day 5 Chaukori S/S
You can visit Patal Bhubaneswar.

Day 6 Chaukori

Day 7 Chaukori To Nainitaal ( is it possible to cover)
Yeah, take the route via Seraghat. Its shorter.

Day 8 NainiTaal

Day 9 Back to Delhi ( train at evening )

I have added nainitaal in list as I am not sure if my wud be wife will be comfortable in the nature surrounding so long. Nainitaal will give us feeling within people ...

Atmodip,

Adding Nainital is fine. Revised plan looks good.

If you take the night train from Delhi, you can proceed directly to Binsar on arrival next morning. You can also take a 4 pm train from Delhi, in which case you'll have to overnight at Kathgodam.

On Day 9, if your train from Delhi is at 5 pm, you need to take the night train from Kathgodam on Day 8 to be safe. Or opt for a night train leaving Delhi on Day 9.

Hi All,

@dilliwal and jyotipg, thanks for comments. based on your comment I have revised the plan again .. and I think I will go for this -

Day 1 Delhi ( Will reach around Morning 11 Am by Rajdhani)
Will stop in some near by hotel of Delhi Rail station and go for a short visit to Akshardham temple by Metro. Will be back by evening and in night will catch Ranikhet Express To Kathgodam.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2 Kathgodam To Binsaar KMVN Guesthouse (Hope it will be atleast standard accomodation )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 3 Binsaar - sight seeing or leisure walk
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 4 Binsaar To Chaukori KMVN Guesthouse (Hope it will be atleast standard accomodation )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 5 Chaukori - sight seeing (Patal bhairab possibly)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 6 Chaukori leisure walk
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 7 Chaukori To Nainitaal (Plan to reach earliest , shopping/walking around in evening but Where To Stay ?? )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 8 NainiTaal Sight seeing possibly
----------------------------------------------------------------
Day 9 Kathgoodam (From nainitaal ) to Delhi will catch Samparka kranti express which reach delhi at 3.30 pm , then will catch rajdhani at 5 pm
---------------------------------------------------------------

Now tell me,
1.How good in kmvn chaukori guest house.

2.Please give a good option to stay at Nainitaal.

3.Binsaar or Chaukori , which will be worth for 3 night stay as honeymoon couple considering KMVN guest house as accommodation.

4.Selection of mode of transport from day 2 to day 9. Should I book a cab for whole tour or I can get it from hotel in respective place of stay. What will be approximate cost ?

Please share your views !!!

1) Good.

2) Look for the thread 'Home away from Home'. Other than that there's plenty of info in the Hotels forum, take a look.

3) Chaukori has electricity, Binsar only a few hours from generator in the evenings.

4) It's best to have your own car. A small one will cost 1200-1400 a day. Search for the contacts of Anil Bisht, Anand Gowami, etc. There's also a thread 'Car Rental in Kumaon'.
You could also release the car at Nainital, thereby saving 2 days' fare. Local sightseeing and going to Kathgodam is easily done by local taxi.

I must advise again that your train connection at Delhi on Day 9 is too tight. The 15036 is often late. You then have to move from Delhi RS to ND RS (possible by Metro). I would choose a later train to Cal.

Thanks a lot Dilliwala ... Actually I do not have any other option as otherwise I have to spent another night on train from Kathgoodam to Delhi ... what I really do not want at this moment, and I do not have any options also as Rajdhani leaves at 5.00 only. Let me think over it as u have raised the concern.

But above all thanks for your help.
