Starting a new thread. I also posted this in Escape to Kumaon thread but not sure how much traffic it gets. I hope that is okay.

We will be in New Delhi on 26th of February next year. We have 8 days and have came up with something like this:

1) New Delhi to Jim Corbett NP (2 nights)
2) Jim Corbett to Binsar (2 nights)
3) Binsar to Munsiyari (2 nights)
4) Munsiyari to Almora/Kausani (1 night - picked mainly because it seems like halfway)
5) Back to New Delhi (seems like a really long drive)

This is a rough plan. We don't really have that good of an idea on the distances involved except for googling. So, not much is set in stone. Any suggestions for tinkering welcome and greatly appreciated. The only musts we have are:

1) Definitely want to go to Corbett.
2) We need to be back at an New Delhi or Dehradun airport on 6th of March.
3) We like to travel off the beaten track.
4) We are physically fit and do lot of trekking. However, that is not really our biggest goal for this trip. A good suggestion of short day hikes is still always welcome.
5) Another alternative is maybe going to Dehradun instead of New Delhi. Is that even feasible? Is it an interesting route compared to going back to Delhi?
6) Do we need to be worried about roads being closed due to weather? Obviously, weather is unpredictable but how much of a plan B do we need to have?

Thank you!

1) You need to book your entry into Corbett online, so do it at the earliest;
2) All the places that you want to mention have KUmaon Mandal Vikas Nigam(KMVN) run Tourist Rest Houses (TRH) at prime locations with excellent views, but the accommodation is very basic, so in case you want some better high end places to stay, consult the net like Yatra.com or Makemytrip.com;
3) Munsiyari to Almora is also a very long drive, as the average would be about 20-25 KMPH in the hills;
4) Since there is a lot to construction activity going on in the NH connecting Uttarakhand with Delhi, especially in and around Pilakhuwa stretch, so reaching Delhi by 5.00 P.M may pose a challenge;
Keeping in view the above conditions, I would not advise Munisiyari visit in this short duration, instead from Corbett go to Sitlakhet via Ranikhet and from there go to Kausani and from there come to Almora/Binsar, visit Jageshwar and come back to Nainital/Bhimtal or Naukuchiyatal and start for Delhi from there, it will save atleast 2 hours drive in the hills, as you can reach Haldwani/plains in an hours time and head for Delhi and it would be better if you start at 5 AM for Delhi as with normal stoppage it takes about 10 hours and with jams it may take a bit longer (even more on weekends)

Hey srb, thanks for the tips. I have revised the plan as follows:

day 1: Corbett
day 2: Corbett
day 3: Corbett
day 4: Binsar (Forest retreat lodge)
day 5: Binsar (Forest retreat lodge)
day 6: Chaukori
day 7: Chaukori
day 8: Start back to Delhi (any suggestions for overnight stay?)
day 9: Fly back from Delhi (evening flight)

What do you think?

Regarding Corbett, when I go online to book Dhikala it says that I can only book till 16th of January. Is there a way to call them for booking?

Chaukori does not have much to offer, so you can make it Naukuchiyatal and stay one night there, as for overnight stay in Delhi on 8th day, there are a plethora of hotels in the vicinity of the airport - book as you please...

Thanks again for the tips.

We are getting quoted 40000 INR per person per day for Corbett (stay at dhikala, all meals, 2 jeep safaris per day). I am bit surprised by the cost because even luxury Safari in Serengeti were lot less. Do you know if this is normal rate for foreigners in Corbett?
