Hello, IM has helped me previously in deciding various itineraries. Hope to get some help with my query.

I'm a solo backpacker planning to visit Rishikesh on the 17th of June. Have heard of level 5 rafting during that time. Wish to try that. From 19th I plan to either do Gangotri/Gomukh trek or head towards Himanchal for Shimla/Manali. Still undecided as to which option would be easily covered between 19th and 22nd since I'm flying back on 23rd evening from Delhi.

Thank you.

You can easily go to Uttarkashi on 19th and proceed to Gangotri on 20th early morning and the same day you can trek to Gomukh if you are an experienced trekker. But the formality of getting an entry permit is there. Stay there on 2oth return on 21st and reach Uttarkashi on the same day.It is a tight schedule- but doable I feel.Let us see what others have to say.

Thanks narayanvee! That helped.

A couple of questions tho:
1. What mode would you recommend for travel till Uttarkashi/Gangotri?
2. Any prior formalities for the permit?

Thank You.

1. Bus or share jeeps are available from Rishikesh...
2. You need to visit the Forest Office at Uttarkashi and apply for the permit to trek upto Gomukh. Permits are issued on spot...
