Can someone advice on the best driving route from Lucknow to Kathgodam? Google map suggests that the fastest route is via the new Agra-Lko expressway. Has anyone used this expressway recently?
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Need Suggestion for Kumaon trip in October 2018

Hello friends,

we (3 adults and 1 kid) are planning to visit Kumaon in mid October 2018. Need your help on following questions.

First, our overall plan (#of days mentioned)
1st: Kaushani
2nd, 3rd: Chaukri
4th, 5th, 6th: Munsiyari
7th, 8th: Binsar
9th: Sattal (??)
10th: Overnight train to Lucknow
11th: Lucknow

My questions are:
1. Apart from Munsiyari, we're planning to stay at KMVNs. Please suggest which rooms are recently renovated and well in condition now.
Along with that, I need suggestions where can we book just one room for 4 of us, and where it's better to book 2 rooms. It's dependent on room size.
2. At Munsiyari, planning to stay at Milam Inn. Please suggest whether to stay 3 nights over there, or 2nights in Milam and 1 night in KMVN Birthi. WHat's the condition of KMVN Birthi?
3. For 9th, please suggest a good and newly renovated KMVN to stay, beside any lake. Last year, we stayed at KMVN Naukuchiyatal 1st floor room, and it was awesome. So, looking for something similar.
4. To book a specific room, like say the right most room of 1st floor in some KMVN, does going to KMVN office help? Can they ensure booking that specific room for me?

I can only suggest on this part. Good choice of hotel first of all, Milamm Inn has a great location and lots of open space.
2 Nights In Milamm then do the khaliya trek and stay one night at the resort which is mid way. That`ll be better experience than birthi imho.

Please suggest

02-Nov-18 Howrah On train
03-Nov-18 Lalkuan Binser
04-Nov-18 Binser Kaushani
05-Nov-18 Kaushani Munsiyari
06-Nov-18 Munsiyari
07-Nov-18 Munsiyari Chaukori
08-Nov-18 Chaukori Nainital (via Patal Bubneswar)
09-Nov-18 Nainital
10-Nov-18 Nainital Lalkuan
11-Nov-18 On train Howrah

1. Me(34) and my wife(29) will be travelling in HWH-LUK express, tickets done. We are planning to book small car Santro/Wagnor for entire trip.
2. Any suggestions regarding routes are welcome.
3. Mist have Food suggestions are also welcome.
4. Planning to stay in KMVN in all places except Kusani where I want to stay at Gandhi Ashram. But not sure how to book. Pls help.

Queries:

1. I understand plan is little hectic but is it doable? Specially we do not have any Child or Senior citizen with us.
2. Historically HWH-LKU express is 30min-2Hr late. Do you see any issue reaching KMVN Binser by 5pm?
3. 08-Nov-18 Chaukori Nainital (via Patal Bubneswar) is it possible in a day? Else I have to drop Patal B.
4. How is the road condition?

03 Nov 18----Lalkuan to Binsar --- very tough (you will not be able to enjoy scenic beauty on the way after long train journey), better option will be go to Mukteshwar on that day. Mukteshwar is very nice place and offers superb view on a clear day.
Next day you can move from Mukteshwar to Binsar.

You total plan needs to be rescheduled in that case.
For car you can contact Anand Goswami--9568274128 (you can take my reference also).
Better ask him to suggest tentative plan of your preferable places between those days. He will plan accordingly.
Road in Kumauon is very nice except very few patches, that's why road journey is also very nice.
November is very good time as far as view is concerned and it will be less crowded (except the Diwali days)
Kausani Gandhi Ashram does not have comfortable arrangements for boarders, it is ashram. So, think twice before staying there.
