Any road link between Lansdowne and Hardwar/Rishikesh/Mussoorie
Hi
I am planning a trip to Lansdowne,Pauri, Khirsu this year end and would want some info from the travel veterans.
- Is there any direct road connectivity between Lansdowne and Haridwar / Rishikesh / Mussourie bypassing Pauri-Srinagar route i.e. except Lansdowne - Pauri - Srinagar - Devaprayag - Rishikesh Route?
- If such route exist, then what is the distance between the places? Time required to cover the distance?
- Is there any bus / cab facilities between the places? Any idea of the fare.
Looking forward to your suggestions to finetune my plans.
Thanks.

The route that you mentioned is not usual, I wonder how you came up with that
There are a couple of other options but your best bet will be Lansdowne-Kotdwar-chilla route. The public transport is easily available on this one.

If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day
Hi jituyadav.
Thanks for your valuable suggestion.
I would request you to inform how much time will it take to reach Haridwar/Rishikesh via Lansdowne - Kotdwar - Chilla Route. Kindly intimate the timings of public transport in this route, if available to you.
My route is Delhi - (By train) Kotdwar - Pauri (2 night stay) with Khirsu - Lansdowne (01 night stay) - Haridwar - Mussourie - Dehradun - Delhi. Any suggestion of alternate route from Lansdowne to Delhi or any other tourist location to avoid Haridwar/Mussourie/Dehradun.
Looking forward to ur reply in this regard.

Many years back we had traveled on these routes. I don't know whether this is still relevant or not. Let me share the route traveled by us. May be you will find it useful.
We started from Kolkata by train, reached Delhi (1N Halt), then proceeded to Moosouri (2 N Halt), to Dhanulti (1 N Halt), to Chamba (1 N Halt), to Pauri (1 N Halt) (We skipped Srinagar), to Khirsu (2 N Halt), to Landown (1 N Halt), to Haridwar (Tour ends here). We started our return journey from Haridwar after spending a couple of days there.
We used an exclusive cab hired from Delhi. Though the Driver was very good and quite helpful guy, but he had very little idea about these places. Possibly he had not driven on these routes earlier. However, I had provided him a road map which I collected before start of our journey. In addition, he was talking to the local people extensively and had followed their guidance and I reckon we had got excellent route guidance.

Hello asishdas
First of all thanx to u for your valuable suggestions in every sphere of our travel plan.
(a) In your reply, you told that you have traveled from Lansdowne to Haridwar by road after 01 night stay. Kindly provide me the route map and approximate time taken to cover the distance.
(b) Do you have any idea of a bus service from Lansdowne to Dehradun, which I recently came to know.
(c) Day Trip to Dehradun/Mussourie/Dhanulti from Haridwar by booking a cab or stay at Mussourie (01 day) to cover the places. Which one is advisable?

Hi kol2012!
As I said earlier, I had traveled on these routes many years back. Besides, I could not locate my Diary containing trip log, which I usually maintain in such tours. Therefore, whatever feedback I had provided (or going to provide now) are all based on my memory. Disclaimer: There may be some mistakes.
(a) We followed this route: Landsdown -> Kotdwar -> Najibabad -> Haridwar. Total distance was appox. 115 KMs, out of which appox. 40 KMs was on hill section (from Lansdown to Kotdwar). If I remember correctly, it took appox 2-1/2 hours non-stop driving to reach Haridwar. I do not possess any road map as of now, but I am sure you will find many maps on googling the web.
(b) I have no idea of bus service, as we traveled by exclusive cab. Even if I had, the info would have been obsolete.
(c) I have seen people doing day trip from Haridwar to Moosuri via Dehradun & back. But my own submission would be to avoid such day trip. It would be very tiring and touch-and-go type of trip. You will not enjoy such hurricane trips. Moreover, Dhanaulti is a beauty, you must spend at least one night over there. I would also recommend a night's stay at Moosuri.

there are 2 ways to reach pauri from haridwar one is via devprayag and other one through kotdwar and both are good routes offering you scenic view of the nature. if you are coming from delhi via road i will say you go for kotdwar route, from meerut you will go directly to nazibabad and then to kotdwar . khirshu is 20-25 km drive from pauri and its a beautiful tranquil place and when in khirshu stay in either old forest guest house from British era and GMVN tent colony.
enjoy travel and enjoy lyf
have a nice trip

It will take about 7 hours. Just come to kotdwar and from there you will get plenty of options to reach Rishikesh.

Why Musoorie and Dhanolti? They are just a waste of time if you have visited places like Khirsu and Lansdowne. Thanks to indiamike and all friends
Had a wonderful trip.
Tour Route: Sealdah - Delhi - Kotdwara - Lansdowne - Pauri - Khirsu - Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi - Sealdah.
Best place to stay at Lansdowne, Pauri : GMVN Rest House. Foods, available at the rest house, are tasty and of good quality/quantity.
The drivers of the car, which we have booked, are very good with the roads and has shown us the hidden treasure of Garhwal / Uttarakhand.
The car we used is TATA INDIGO. Driver: Mr. Rajendra Singh - 09412029966 (Pauri Khirsu Area) and Mr. Palminder Singh Negi - 09410903194 (Lansdowne)
The rate is Rs. 1000/- per day + Diesel as per requirement. But this rate changes during peak season.
Few Dropping charges/rates: Indigo Car (exclusive car for 4/5 passengers)
Kotdwar to Pauri - Rs. 1600/-
Kotdwar to Lansdowne - Rs. 500/-
Pauri to Lansdowne - Rs. 1600/-
Lansdowne to Haridwar - Rs. 2000/- + Toll tax
Lansdowne Sight seeing - Rs. 100/- per spot.
Haridwar to Rishikesh & back with sight seeing (5 hrs) - Rs. 1000/-
Thanks to asishdas, S2dude & jituyadav and indiamike for their valuable suggestions which have helped me of a successful trip.
