Hey,
The best things to do in Varanasi:
a) Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple (might take a long time because of the long ques.)
b) Go for the boat ride (Try going during sunset, its a beautiful thing to do...you can see the ghats both before sunset and even in the dark. Then sit in your boat and enjoy the beautiful Arti on Dashwasamedh ghat)
c) Sarnath Museum and old ruins are really worth a visit.
d) Ramnagar fort: According to me not a place which is really nice, but if you want you can take a visit to the place....quite far away!!
e) Vindhyachal : A temple with a beautiful diety!
f)Chunar fort : If you want to go around Varanasi, you might go to this fort. Th fort is not that nice but there is a giant well which is good to see.
g)Sitamarhi : A beautiful mandir, calm and quiet place..good for an excursion

I believe the best thing in Varanasi is going for boat rides in Ganges, walking on the ghats, watching Arti...but you can cover the above mentioned places in 4 days.
You need a day for Sarnath,Ramnagar fort and a few other temples in Varanasi: Hanuman Temple, Tulsidas temple.
A day for giving puja to Kashi Vishwanath along with boat ride.
Another day (if u want) for Vindhyachal, Chunar and Sitamarhi (Sitamarhi is very close to Allahabad: so go for this if u wanna stay back in Allahabad for a night )

You will definitely like Varanasi

Smile Off to Mughalsarai

Sorry for being late...very late writing down my TR..

Day 1: We boarded the Pujo special train and it was really nice. The bathrooms were nice and the train was extremely clean. We got up and slept at around 11pm.

Day 2: Got up and was waiting for Mughalsarai...finally reached the hot, dusty station. We reached the auto stand and started bargaining with the auto drivers for hiring an auto to Varanasi..we told him the name of our hotel and finally he agreed to travel for 16 kms for Rs 400.

The road from Mughalsarai to Varanasi: extremely bad, narrow and dusty highway
The one hour journey was sad...very sad..
I feel its better to directly board a train to Varanasi rather than going to Mughalsarai..

We finally reached Varanasi and the autowalla told us that he couldnt go further and we have to travel by a rickshaw to the hotel as roads were prohibited near the ghat.

We had to do as per his direction.
We reached our hotel.

Angry Hotel Review: Atithi Satkaar

I read about the reviews of this hotel at tripadvisor and due to mixed responses, we decided to atleast check out its rooms. We were shown room no.307- triple AC room and as the room was spacious with a balcony, we decided to stay there for three nights. My father paid an advance of 2000/. The Bengali receptionist MR.TAPAS (A BIG LIAR AND FRAUD) started telling my father about the travel agent of the hotel who takes people to pandas and for boat rides. We didn tell them that we require a guide but they were continuously pressurizing us for the same. We told them that we require no agent and after our declaration their behavior totally changed. Tapas the liar started telling us that there is a problem in our room and we need to shift. When we asked the problem, he could not tell us.W e boldly told him that we wont shift to another room. After staying there for two nights, on the third day he suddenly told us we have to leave the hotel as there was some prior booking. When we charged them, they told us very rudely that they don't care, we have to leave the room. The receptionists were very rude and ill mannered. They don't know how to speak to women. I will recommend people to be very careful at this hotel. They are big frauds and they don't care about their reputation. They will behave very sweetly with you, when you enter their hotel. The moment you are in, they will try to bully you, cheat you, harass you. If they cant cheat you, they will tell you to leave the hotel.
