Hi,
I'd like to know the driving conditions to Dudhwa National Park. We are thinking of flying (late Nov)into Lucknow or taking a train upto Shahjehanpur(from Delhi), and then hiring a cab/car.
Route choice # 1: Lucknow to Dudhwa
Route choice # 2: Shahjehanpur to Dudhwa
How are the roads, which route to take and how long would it take to reach Dudhwa from either starting point?
Also would it be safe to drive at night- say between 5:00- 10:00 pm?
Is there a better/faster way to get to Dudhwa? We'll be travelling from Hyderabad.
...thanks

Lucknow provides you no benefit unless you have a direct flight from Hyd.
Therefore best is a train from Delhi to Bareilly, from where you can hire a car. Shahjahanpur is further out and will require a backtrack.

Can't tell you anything about road conditions today as it was a very long time ago that I went to Dudhwa. I presume they're ok.

It'll be best to reach the park latest by 6 pm. Firstly to avoid driving in the dark, and secondly the later you get there the less you're chance of getting dinner - generally has to be ordered in advance. Unless you can call ahead - no idea if there's a mobile tower anywhere in the vicinity.

Thanks a ton...very helpful. But sadly I'll have to postpone my plans as the one place we'd set our hearts on in Dudhwa-Jambolana-is closed for renovations!

Planning a trip to Dudhwa/Katernia ghat
Not much information available about accommmodation and safari in Katernia ghat.
Also, I am planning to stay 2 nights and one full day.
If Katernia ghat is not feasible, I would stay in Dudhwa.
Any ideas please?
