Hey all, first time poster here. Just wanted to say thanks for making IM the forum for information regarding India travel.

I'll be traveling to India for four weeks in Feb-March and am researching where I would like to celebrate Holi festival. I am leaning toawrds Mathura (but still open to suggestions : )

Anyways, I read on another thread that there is an event held in Phalain village featuring a festive gathering around a large fire in which a priest runs through at around 3 AM. You can watch the video here:
Can anyone contribute more information regarding this celebration as well as the dates it will take place this year (2015)? I've heard that it takes place after Holi.

Come to Uttarakahand with me! The Holi celebration in Kuomani region lasts for weeks

I'm also going to try to visit some villages, which you mention for Mathura. Anyways, I wish you luck. I suspect some of the best celebrations are off the beaten path.

Thanks anyways for the info Shongled33. With only 4 weeks, I don't think I will make it to Uttarakahand, but the info is appreciated. Looks interesting to say the least!

Update: Figured I'll share the infos with anyone interested. Judging by the lack of information online in English, not many. My opinion is it looks like no other full moon party I've ever been to.

The the re-enactment is part of the Holika Dahan festival, which takes place the eve of Holi sometime after sunset, close to Prahlad Kund (pond) at Phalain (also Phalen) Village, near Kosi and Mathura area.
