I had been to Gokul the place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood and what stuck me was a quirky habit here. Strangers were calling me Gopal. Not just that they were calling other people also Gopal! Then i figured that here, it is a way of salutation and every stranger is called Gopal, another name of Krishna.
There are several interesting temples to visit here including Gokulnath, Madan Mohan, Gopal Lalji, Morwala and Vitthalnath.
Two other things Gokul is famous for is the Bhakti movement and Thakurani ghat where Shri Vallabhacharya, the pioneer of Bhakti movement received Darshan of Shri Yamuna Maharani.
Reaching Gokul is fairly convenient as it is 16 Kms from Mathura city on the Mathura Etah road.
