Hello, I am planning a day trip from Gorakhpur to Kushinagar. Typically I will arrive at Gorakhpur, Junction railway station on the morning, then it seems that there are bus services from there to Kushinagar, then I'd like to take the bus from Kunshinagar back to Gorakhpur afternoon to catch the train to Delhi.

So, kindly, my questions are as follows:
1). is it possible to make such a trip? I mean, going to Kushinagar at morning and come back to Gorakhpur afternoon, is it possible?
2). I noticed that several webpages mentioned there are bus services between those two locations. However, I did not find it online. Could you help me find the time tables? so that I can learn whether I am able to come back at afternoon, and which train I can catch up
3). Which railway station in Gorakhpur should I take off? it seems that there are three stations: one is Gorakhpur Junction, another one is Gorakhpur Cantt, and the last one is Gorakhpur City. So, which one is the nearest to the bus station, where the bus can take me to go to back from Kushinagar?

Thanks for your attention, i am looking forward to hearing from you.

I took the bus from Gorakhpur Junction to Kushinagar once. Since it is a local bus, it stops at several places, and takes about 1 1/2 hours for the 50 kilometers. You ask outside the railway station, where the bus leaves. Many buses are there on the road waiting.

If you want to go to the Buddhist sites in Kushinagar, you have to get off before you reach the town proper. So just tell the driver that (best insist by telling it a few times, to make sure), and he will call you when it is time. It is on a junction of the road leading to the temples and the historic site of the cremation of the Buddha (the Ramabar Stupa). You can take a Rickshaw (probably a Cycle Rickshaw) or have to walk about one kilometer until the row of temples starts. The stupa of the cremation ground is another mile down the road after a sharp bend to the left.

In your situation I would take a car with driver from Gorakhpur Junction. For the 50 kms you pay less than Rs 1000 (50 km x 2 = 100 km x 9 Rupees) for a basic car. That's 15-16 US$. That should be possible.
