Hello !
Does anyone know about Ooty ... the pictures look nice.
Is there any cheap nice guesthouses with backpackers meditating around there ?
And is it possible to swim in the lakes up there ?
thanks

I doubt you can swim in the lakes up in Ooty... Most of the lakes are interconnected and act as a reservoir to the dams around the area. However if you could get the permission of the forest department at Ooty for the Periyaar lake and the dams surrounding the same, you may get lucky in spotting a wild cat... Plus it is a lesser known spot, so very very very clean, and barely any tourist...

It could be damned cold. Striding around the hills in thick clothing might be a more appropriate/comfortable way of spending time in Ooty than either meditation or swimming.
