Hi all,
I have been to this place from 11-August to 13-August , and simply liked this place , as i reached just before the weekend i was escaped from the crowd. and lovely scenic beauty with mist and greean lawn of grass everywhere makes it perfect hill station with pictursque bueaty of nature , you can feel and savour the nature .
I took the cab from bangalore with 6.5 /km --150 driver bhatta per day (6:00 am to 10:00 pm any time cross is another 150/- extra driver bhatta), i started my journey at 1 : 30 pm . till bandipur foresst it plane the terrain startes from there by the time i reached at ooty it was 10:00 pm its 258 km from bangalore . I stayed at Hotel Darshan just infront of lake in ooty . its a veg hotel food is not great but i wanted something infront of lake to have better view but its not like that .
1) they say from Hotel Darshan from every room you can get view towards Lake its because you have to come out in common barandah(other people can also be there) to get that view , its not direct view from room.
2) the View is ok you will not get direct view to lake its because there are trees coming in front , but still its ok .
i think thats why some people prefer hotel lake view .
tarrif is 1200 and tax rooms are OK , its old but fine.

next day morning we went to lake , than to doodhbettela peak , tea garden , botanical garden .
i did not go to coonoor but it can be ver well clubbed there are local toy trains runs between them . 13th morning i started my journey back to bangalore on the way wnet to pykara lake and pyakara fall , both are nice but at pyakara lake there are no 2 seater boat all are group big boats with min capacity 6 ppl .
while coming down found many tea gardens lovely beauty , took a break at mysore , and than back to bangalore.

Ticked Ooty in my check list

Could you please give the contact details of the taxi @ 6.5/km from BLR. I have never managed to get any taxi from BLR for less than Rs 8/km plus minimum 250km per day.

Thanks

Rs 8 was for an AC Indica.

Did they charge you for interstate permit and if so how much? Do post the details anyway, it will be of use to others.

Rs 300 is reasonable. The people we hired the taxi from wanted 750 to cross the border. The actual cost is hardly 200.
