Dear IndiaMikers, planning a new trip and as usual think you are the best people to guide!
So here it is.

Kuari pass in Uttarakhand. In May end. 3-4 Adults. 2 kids (ages 10-12). Will use local porters/guides instead of big agencies.
Most of us have done day-treks but we qualify ourselves as beginners.

Plan and my assumptions based on what I have read so far. My questions also inbuilt.
Day 1: Auli to Tali camp
a) I am guessing it is appx 8Km / 6-7 Hrs trek. Doable?
b) Is Tali camp in a bugyal OR in forest?
Day 2: Tali camp to Kuari Pass and return to camp
a) 10 Km round trip? / Time 10-12 Hrs?
b) Return should be Tali camp OR Khulara or somewhere else?
Day 3: Day 2 camp to Topoban or Dhak. Any difference in terms of distance or time or difficulty level? Would like fastest route back.

Any suggestion also much welcome. Thanks a ton!

We had done it in 4 days, with an extra camp before Tali.

Tali camps were in the forest.

We had gone with a 'big' organization.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

Hello,

Kuari Pass is an awesome choice. GO for it. As per your queries:

Good Choice - Have a look at my travel report on Kuari Pass, I compiled quite a few guide information there.

Kuari Pass trek in some places can be moderately difficult. So, I'd suggest to add a day or two.

Add a day between. Trek to Khulara from Tali Top and stay. The next day, go to Kuari Pass. It would take ~7 hours up and down (slow walk and stopping for photography).

This day you can either come down to Gulling or Akhrot campsite, if permits else stay at Khulara. Next day start early and reach Dhak and to Joshimath.

Note, there might be Altitude sickness. So be prepared.

Cheers!
Darjeeling, Kuari Pass Winter trek, Tawang-Dirang-Bomdila

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

We will be going with local guide Shibu aka Shiv Singh. Anyone gone with him recently? I would like to know quality of his sleeping bags. If not good we will buy our own. Thanks!

OK, looks like no-one used him recently... Well, can someone guide if Decathlon FORCLAZ 10 is good enough for night stay in Kuari pass (expected night temperature 0-5 deg next week). FORCLAZ 0/5 ULTRALIGHT BIVOUAC looks expensive (5,000!)

How much for a porter on this route? Do I need to carry a tent or is there any accommodation on this route?

Surely. What type of idea you need? If you can specify. Generally, you have to follow the same route like Kuari Pass.
If the weather permits, you can stay at the advance base camp and start the Pangarchulla peak summit. Else you have to stay in Khullara Campsite. We thought of doing it but while we were there, the snow was so much we couldn't do it. From Khullara to Pangarchulla peak and back should take half of a day. So if you start early in the morning you should come back to base before sundown. Again this depends on your walking pace and fatigue level.

You can also get some information here: https://indiahikes.com/pangarchulla/
