I have trekked with him multiple times-including a trip this April. He charges 1200 per day, porters @ 550-600 per day, and a cook @ 1000 per day. You don't actually need the cook...he cooks pretty good food himself.

We are a group of two families - totally 8 members planning a Goumukh Tapovan Trek in April.

Tentative Dates are;

Date Plan
12-Apr-18 Reach Delhi by 8 PM, Board 10:15 PM train to Dehradun
13-Apr-18 Reach Haridwar by 6 AM, Haridwar to Gangotri (By Shared Jeep) via Uttarkashi, get Permit and finalize Guides and Porters at Uttarkashi.
14-Apr-18 Gangotri, Rest + Acclimatization Day
15-Apr-18 Gangotri to Chirbasa Trek
16-Apr-18 Chirbasa to Bhojbasa Trek
17-Apr-18 Bhojbasa to Gaumukh to Tapovan
18-Apr-18 Tapovan to Neel Tal (1.5 KM) and back
19-Apr-18 Tapovan to Bhojbasa
20-Apr-18 Bhojbasa to Gangotri
21-Apr-18 Visit Nelong Valley and back (by Jeep)
22-Apr-18 Gangotri to Dehradun, Night Train to Delhi
23-Apr-18 Arrival at Delhi, Fight to Bangalore, Back to Office

I had a few questions.

1. Is the plan on 13th April feasible?

2. How many porters will I need for a group of 8? - A guide I called told me we will need 1 guide, 10 porters and 1 cook. I thought that was very high. Another guy told me 2 porters are enough. I am confused now.

3. Are these dates OK? The Gangotri temple opens on 18th April and I wanted to start before the pilgrimage starts. Hope I am not too early for the trek.

4. For my costing purposes are the following costs OK?

- Guide - rs 1200
- Porter - rs 700
- Tent - rs 200 (2 person tent)
- Sleeping bag - rs 70
- Food / Provisions / Stove (not sure of the costs for this).
- What would be cost of shared taxi - Haridwar to Gangotri per seat?

Any help on the above is much appreciated.

Regards
Yogesh
