Hi,
I would advice you to visit srirangam temple and rock fort in tiruchi in the morning and after lunch take a bus to tanjore ( distance is roughly 55kms and one and half hour journey by bus) and next day take a bus/ train to rameshwaram and then travel to madurai, kanyakumari and then take a bus to kodai and later to howrah.

Hi,
Day 1
Their are 3 temples in tiruchi ranganathaswamy the main temple, jombulingeshwar and the rock fort the temple.
If you want to visit only the main temple then tanjore is possible but tight.
I would advice you to travel to rameshwaram from tanjore either by bus/train and the distance is roughly 260 kms.
Day 2
take a train or a bus to rameshwaram
Day 3
Arrive at rameshwaram
Day 4
Travel to madurai,
Day 5
Madurai and take a afternoon bus to kodai
Day 6 kodai
This is what i feel a good alternative plan
Please post your comments
with regards

We are reaching Trichy at early morning around 5 AM <>
After taking some rest we will go start sightseeing around 7 AM . It is possible to cover main temple, jombulingeshwar and the rock fort the temple by 10 am ?
then by 12 noon we can start for Tanjore ( We will be only visiting Palace & Brihadeeswarar Temple ) can we return by 8-9 PM ?
Then we will catch the morning train for Rameshwaram

It might be difficult to cover all the 3 temples by 10 am,
The rock fort temple will take 3 or 4 hours as you have to climb 370 steps or so.
You can avoid jumbulingeswar temple and visit these the other 2 temples by lunch and then travel to tanjore.
The bus will take a minimum of 1 1/2 hours, if you can hire a taxi i think u can cover these places or
travel to tanjore in the morning and then visit tiruchi a better alternative.

Srirangam temple takes 2 - 3 hours depending on the day/time of the year. Towards end of December, which is Dhanur maas, several special activities go on.
Rock Fort also takes time to climb up and down, as indicated already.

My take is:

Day 1: Full day at Trichy
Day 2: Early morning - proceed to Tanjore and at the earliest start to Rameshwaram from there.
Either you can get a Train (comfortable) or Bus
Day 3: Complete Rameswaram, reach Madurai
Day 4: Full day at Madurai & if you have strength/interest visit either Alagarkoil (half day needed) or Tirupparangundram
Day 5: Start for Kodai and spend the day and stay.
Day 6: Start for Kanyakumari early morning and reach to enjoy Sunset at Kanyakumari; Stay.
Day 7: View Sunrise and proceed to Nagercoil for your phase II.

Hi

agree with post #7,
You have mentioned this as half trip..

i guess it would be nice to know the complete list of places and suggest as that will align the places again.
