I'm taking my (American) parents to Bangalore in December to meet my husband's family, and my dad is curious to see a cricket match while we're there. Unfortunately, I know nothing about cricket myself, so I have very little idea how to go about planning that. Would there be any cricket matches being played in Bangalore in December? Doesn't need to be a major team or an important match, it's just for the experience... I can't seem to find any good info about this online. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

December is very much the cricket season in India. Any afternoon just head for the playground of a boys' school in the neighbourhood. There's bound to be a cricket match in progress.

Have a look here.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-d...es/518116.html

Can't see any games scheduled for Bangalore,BUT there are some games involving Karnataka where the venue is still to be decided,
Hopefully they might end up being played in Bangalore.

Thanks for your help, guys! I'll keep an eye on the page vandy linked to and if no games end up being scheduled in Bangalore, I'll take Golghar's advice.

coffee looks good, but you are parents are visiting on wrong time, India will be traveling to vandy's land this December, hey vandy are you going to support the boys in blue this summer mate, can't wait for boxing day in Sydney or Melbourne. If you had come during march/April who could have easily watched the ipl, some leading cricket commentator remarked t20 is the answer to American baseball ( oh well that was a derogatory remark, I know you care).

coffeemate -
round which area will you be staying in ? it'd be convenient for you to visit the grounds closest to your location.

sunday winter mornings - most of the playing fields are teeming with boys playing cricket

We'll be staying with my husband's family near Vijaynagar. What are the closest grounds to there?

plenty of cricket playgrounds in vijaynagar itself - just ask around.
if not - the neighbourhood of malleswaram is close by - there's a big field there, amongst numerous smaller playgrounds.

An Intro to Cricket.
This article was uploaded with the intentions of promoting cricket within non cricket playing nations, as a service to the game and the ICC. Copyrights belong to their respective owners. This 60 kilobytes long article SERVES AS A MOMENT IN HISTORY!!!

After this, your dad will have a clear idea of what cricket is.
