I'm considering to do a Inner Engineering course at Isha Yoga centre in Coimbatore.
I received details of the course prices from Isha and it seems quite expensive @ 16000 INR for a shared room, food, and the 4 day course!

Has anyone any experience with Isha and their courses and would like to share?
Please let me know.
thanks

My wife and i attended a 6 day course. there is a 'voluntary' donation in addition to the room and food charges. I recall it cost us Rs2.8 lacs for the two of us. Payable in advance.
The Guru was with us throughout for all that's worth.
My wife liked the course.

The facilities were clean, in fact well appointed. The Management was very good and care was taken to know about the requirements and (idiosyncrasies) of the participants. The food was well prepared, presented and served-though taste is an individual thing.
The Ashram seemed well administered and i did like the location.

There are different stay facilities available, as i recall now, and the rates of these are different.
The participants seemed to find value in the course, judging from the commendation speeches.

Me? I am an old sinner, beyond salvation.

Again, one of the commercial gurus. In this case, I do at least eat in their restaurant (a regular IM Meet location too) and buy stuff from their gift shop. If you like the goods on offer, buy!

Can't speak for the inner engineering though. I'd probably prefer This Old Tony. Or even... Abom79, who is really great on the big things in life

Well, it would be if we had any meetups, but it seems that the Chennai members, apart from JP, Jag and I, diligently avoid each other. Or... Maybe they just diligently avoid JP, Jag and me!

The great thing about the place is that the service is dreadful. Oddly, this makes it ideal for meet-ups, because they leave us alone for hours.

Occasionally they play their sad guru stuff (I'd rather have a happy medium than a sad guru) on the TV, but we did once ask them to turn it down... and they did.

I meant helped you.

Usually when you attend some sort of training a form is handed out to the participants to get a feedback about the training. Does that happen with the spiritual type of training's also?

As Above, So Below*...

You just wait and see all the forms you have to fill in when you get back home. Purgatory is bureaucratic. Some people have been waiting hundreds of years.

*Well, not really. I have no idea how long people have been parroting this one, but what they really mean is As below, so we guess it must be above; we think.

There were no forms ( i would probably not have filled them anyway) but every one was expected to talk about his experiences and general feedback. I did not participate and my wife ( after the fiasco during the introduction on the first day) wisely left me alone.

I have an old fashioned view of the guru-chela relationship and the knowledge transfer process. These modern, quick fix, class conscious and yes, commercial Gurus are not for me.

I went there since i was curious. And since my wife was hankering to go.

Since Egyptian times Nick, it's from the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus (The Thrice Greatest) otherwise known as the Demi-God Thoth;

That which is above is like unto that which is below, and that which is below is like unto that which is above.
