If you stay at Lungthu there is no need to go for a sunrise trip by paying extra money. Also it's more convenient. Thambi View point is just 100/150 Mtrs away ( 3/4 Min walk) from the homestays.

Sunrise trips from Zuluk ( Or Padamchen) starts very early in the morning . Drivers usually take back the tourists to Homestays for having breakfast after the trip & then they have to go again toward Kupup / Baba Mandir through the same way as per the package agreement. I guess, for this reason only they charge extra bucks ( though I'm not sure about this , as I've not taken this sunrise trip since we stayed at Thambi , Lower Lungthu )

* another point : Thambi View Point & the Homestays are in Lower Lungthu . Actually the place ' Lungthu' ( Or Upper Lungthu) is 5 Kms ahead of Thambi View Point ( Homestays) . There is no Homestay / staying accommodation available in Lunhthu proper.
Could you please provide me any contact detail for Lungthu accomodation????

Moumita, you are willing to spend two consecutive nights at Lungthu & Gnathang during Mid December. It could be pretty cold & quite tough to spend consecutive nights in extreme weather conditions in those high altitude places. I would suggest you to drop the night-stay either at Nathang or at Lungthu. If you are okay with this, please let me know. I'll post an itinerary for you

yes Sir... one night can be dropped though... then please tell me which one would be better Lungthu or Gnathang... we dont want to miss Gnathang though... we have 2 60 yrs old lady with us who were pretty active during high altitude trip to both Gurudongmar(North Sikkim, November 2016) and Pangong (Ladakh in 2015) in last 2 years... So considering that please suggest me an suitable itinerary..

Please don't call me 'Sir' Okay , then you may stay at Lungthu. In that case it would be easier to enjoy sunrise views from Thambi view point & you can save the money they charge separately for a Sunrise trip. You may do this : Day 1 - NJP to Silery Gaon // Day 2 - Silery to Lungthu // Day 3 - Do the Sightseeing trip to Baba Mandir - Kupup - Nathang ( if road is open) & back to Padamchen for night stay // Day 4 - Mankhim // Day 5 - Reshikhola ( a descend of 50/60 Mtrs from the main road initially & then a walk of 10/15 minutes through forest , plain land ) , if Sr citizens can't make it to Rishi Khola , then move to Rishayap instead of Reshi khola & stay there // Day 6 - Reshi Khola / Rishyap to NJP .

Okay .. But Silk route trip is actually a road trip. Usually people do not stay at any place for more than a night. Anyway if you like it this way, then do this :

Day 1 : NJP to Silery Gaon, Day 2 : Silery gaon , Day 3 : Proceed to Lungthu , Night stay at Lungthu, Day 4 : After doing the sightseeing trip , go to Mankhim , Day 5 : Mankhim , Day 6 : Mankhim to NJP . I've selected 3 places from where you can get nice views of snow peaks.

It should be okay. But during that time sudden snow fall may block the road beyond Lungthu for a day or two or just for a few hours . In that case Nathang may become inaccessible. Chance of getting road blockage during Mid Dec is low though

In Silery Gaon & Mankhim you would get pleasant weather during daytime ( 12/14 C) & during nights it would be around 6/7 degrees. But in Lungthu it would be pretty cold. Temperature during night may plummet to zero degree.

Do you have any pictures of these homestays ??? What kind of facilities they provide... hot waters... room heaters ??? As Lungthang is an off beat destination, i am asking this question...

We stayed at Hilltop Home-stay with basic facilities. They didn't provide us a room-heater , but provided a bucket of hot water in the morning. Please note, all staying options along the Silk Route ( Except in Mankhim, where you'd get a resort ) are basic. These are all family-run home-stays & not at all hotels . So you can't expect so called 'room service' at these places. But they try their best to look after their guests at those remote locations. Electricity is also intermittent in these areas. And almost no mobile connection on this route except at a few vantage points.

If you are worried about weather conditions at Lungthu (12000 + ft) ( Or Nathang which is at 13000 + ft ) , you may opt to stay at a lower-altitude-place like Dzuluk ( at around 10000 ft) Or at Padamchen (7000 Ft) . Many tourists travelling with Sr citizens explore Silk Route ( specially during winter months ) staying either at Zuluk or at Padamchen.
