Yes, this shameful situation has to be brought out into the light. Being threatened with violence and intimidated in this way is appalling. Made my blood boil.

Perhaps this could become a sticky with a more direct title eg. "Extortion scam at India/ Nepal border crossing".
Evil all its sin is still alive.

I have another short story about officers making extra money on this border crossing point.

In 2009 I was crossing the border from India to Nepal. It was night, about 03 AM. When I got to the passport check at India side the border official was charging for an extra 5 USD for "night time extra payment" or something like that. I was standing there with about three other tourists and we were all surprised that there would be an extra charge like this. I have never heard that there would be an extra charge for night time border crossing anywhere in the world and at least nowhere where I've travelled.

So we all just politely disagreed to pay anything for this officer. Then he just burst to a small laugh and told us to go on. So, it seems that this guy just wanted to make some money by ripping off tourists crossing the border. Not nice from a government officer and should be punishable!
