Can anybody tell me what the SRP Inn in Mt. Abu is like? Has any of you stayed there in the past three years or so?

Thanks, aarosh.

I've read that you yourself stayed in Hotel Shikhar. It doesn't get many good reviews nowadays. Another point is that I will be travelling with a friend who has difficulty walking uphill, and I think Shikhar is quite a bit uphill.

I don't know if the Bikaneer Palace is still there. It provided close access to the Jain temple, wonderful though a bit far from the town for sure. Lots of atmosphere. But, like all Palace hotels run by government highly, highly variable in the quality of the rooms. Always check out several at least..

I chose Shikhar (RTDC) since I wanted to confirm my stay before leaving and since was traveling with family wanted a decent place. SRP is right at the start of the road, after which is the petrol pump or is it earlier and beyond that is Shikhar.

Try the Jaipur House.

It's a beautiful property. Has a good bar and outdoor seating. Highest point in Mt.Abu. And the rooms and service are excellent.

Late update:
I wasn't able to book the SRP Inn, so did book Shikhar. Everything else was forbiddingly expensive just after Diwali. After reading the mostly bad reviews on the internet, my expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised. Our rooms were large and perfectly OK. The staff was friendly and helpful. And, due to the location, it was quiet. Maybe it's a matter of luck... some rooms are good, others not.
