For some general weather pointers, see also http://www.indiamike.com/india-image...size=_original and http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...e-chart-t4062/.

I've never been to the Punjab yet (regretfully, and it's on my -- long -- list), but for some tips on what to do there, check also http://www.indiamike.com/india/punja...lease-t104139/ Or of course, search around the site some.

And welcome to IndiaMike

Weather in Punjab in Dec. and Jan.:

I spent several weeks in Punjab in 2005 during this time frame. Day are sunny and warm, nights are cold and frosty (down to zero degree)

The main problem in Punjab is "dhund" or smog, during this time. Dense smog sets in around 6 p.m. and continues till 9 a.m next day. One should not drive in smog, visibility is severely impaired.

Cold nights, fog in the morning just as professorm mentioned. I was in Abohar in 3 days during that time frame around 2003/4. We were to leave by the Intercity Express at 6:45 and the train reached around 2 to 2 1/2 hours late. We could see the end of the platform when we reached the station.

Are you specifically going only to Amritsar? Is this your first time in India? What are your interests?

isn't it great? Sunny & warm days with greens around & enjoying some snacks with cofee or tea.
