Guys,
I will be reaching Amritsar from Delhi by Shatabdi on 30th October. It will be around 2pm I reach there. And I have my return train to Delhi again at 11-45pm same day. Is it feasible to cover Golden Temple, Jalianwalabagh and Wagah border in this time? At what time Wagah border function starts?
Hope to get ur reply soon. Thank you.

If your train reaches amritsar pefectly at 2 pm you will be able to cover wagah border..

You will have to leave directly from station and reserve taxi or auto for wagah..need to reach there around 3-3.30 pm to get proper seats..there is huge rush..take water with you..after completing wagah function you will reach golden temple by 8-8.30 pm..you can spend 2 hours there..but in this case you wont get any rest and you will have to miss jalianwala bagh because it closes at 6.00 pm

Another option is you can skip wagah border..reach amritsar..take a hotel..refresh yourself..have lunch..then visit the golden temple take a bath in holy water if you are intrested..then spend some time in evening in jailianwala bagh..come back after 6.00 pm... rest in room and again back to Golden Tempe..stay there till 11 PM and then leave for station..

I personally would prefer 2nd option..because first sechdule is very hectic..and by skiping wagah you will have a reason to come back to amritsar..

NOTE --- PLEASE VISIT GOLDEN TEMPLE AT NIGHT AFTER 9 PM AND STAY THERE TILL 11.00 PM..GOLDEN TEMPLE DURING NIGHT IS VERY QUITE...YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH IT.....

Thank you Neerav for your valuable suggestion. But I think I have to go by 1st option. It would be hectic but still. At what time the Wagah Border function ends?

I completely agree with neerav. Skip the Wagah border. We were in Amritsar in August and visited the border, too much hype and too much crowd. If you dont have the VIP pass, you wont get to see anything at all. I have no idea how to get the pass.
Golden temple is beautiful, at all times of the day. We spent most time of our 2 day visit inside the temple premises.(I would like to add that we are not really religious people and still enjoyed Golden Temple a LOT).
You can head directly to the temple, deposit your bags, have the langar, freshen up, do teh darshan. Then head to Jalianwala Bagh which is a 5min walk from the temple. Maybe then take a cycle rickshaw and have an early dinner at Kesar da dhaba. Head back to the golden temple, soak in the night view, when its lit up. Collect your baggage and head back to the station.

It ends around 6.00 pm..

In that case i will suggest you to book a taxi for your whole day trip from the station it self..it will cost around 1200-1500..tell him to take you to wagah then while returning from there visit Durgiana temple then tell him to take you to golden temple..the same taxi can drop you to railway station..pay him at the end of journey...

regarding food you can try some road side restruant while going to wagah..after parade ceremony you can eat at a army cantene just outside the border gate..if intrested in shoping you get some good shawls at border for very cheap rate..

at the golden temple you can get food at langar in temple premises..

DONT FORGET TO TAKE WATER AND UMBRELLA/COTTON CLOTH BECAUSE IT IS VERY HOT AND THERE IS NO SHED AND YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR AN HOUR BEFORE CEREMONY STARTS..

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING..IF YOU ARE GOING WITH FAMILY JUST REMEMBER THERE ARE DIFFERENT PLACES TO SIT FOR LADIES AND GENTS SO BEFORE ENTERING THE GATE JUST DECIDE WHERE TO MEET AFTER CEREMONY COMPLETES AS THERE IS MAD RUSH AND PEOPLE EVERYWHERE AND IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND YOUR PEOPLE WITHOUT MOBILE CONNECTIVITY..ONLY BSNL WORKS AS MUCH AS I KNOW..
