Hi Everyone,
I will be relocating to Pune in the coming month for my new job. I will be staying alone for a few months till my husband joins me (perhaps 1 year) Currently, I am staying in Bangalore.
I am a bit apprehensive regarding the culture of Pune and I do have some queries. I will be thankful, in case someone can address them..

1. My office will be in Viman Nagar (I don't have much idea about the locality or nearby areas). I would like to know whats the ongoing rent for a full-furnished studio apartment or 1-BHK in a society, preferably with amenities; which is around that place; or in a place from where commute time to and from office is below 45 min. I am not very sure, about the traffic of Pune; so I am asking in terms of time and not in terms of km.
(In b'lore, even if we stay within 10 km; sometimes it takes more than an hour to reach home.)

2. How is the treatment for the tenants who are working woman (currently without husband). I have seen cases in B'lore where a few of my friends found difficulty in finding house in similar scenario.

3. Whats the kind of Brokerage and advance taken?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Happysouls,

First of all .. Welcome to Indiamike!!!

I should say culture of Pune is Liberal, you don’t have to be anxious about that.

As you said your office located in Viman Nagar you can check Flat near Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Kharadi, Magar Patta . These are the places which are with in 20 mins travel time.

As compare to B’lore Traffic in Pune much better I personally feel so, my experience says even if person is residing 30 kms away from office he/she will reach office max in 01:15 hrs max.

Brokerage / Advance is varies from Min 50,000 INR to XXXXXX it depends how you negotiate.

Treatment for tenants is really good even for Single Females.

Kind Regards,
Shanki.

Hey Shanky,

Thanks a lot for the prompt response.
Your reply is really comforting except for that XXXXXX amount thing

Anyway, in case you have any idea, could you please tell me whats the ongoing rate in the areas you mentioned for fully furnished 1BHK/Studio apartment..

Thanks

Hi

Hello Happy Souls,
Well it is difficult to find a 1 BHK in Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park and even if you do find any it would be really expensive. You can try Viman Nagar or Sakore Nagar which is exactly next to Viman Nagar. As many students and bachelors seem to be staying in that area.

In Viman Nagar a fully furnished 1BHK should not cost you more than 8-12K per month. It also completely depends on the society which you get a flat in. I know a few brokers in Viman Nagar as I too have been looking for an office space. I got an 3BHK penthouse for 23K in viman nagar which is really cheap.

Considering brokerage it would be around one and half months rent and the deposit would be around 3 months of your rent.

do let me know if you need any further help

Regards,
Ravi

Hey Ravi..
Thanks a lot!!
1 more thing ... You have any idea about Kharadi rent amounts?
Rest, I think, information from both you and Shanky are enough for me to start the house-hunting.. :-)

Hi i JUST finished looking for a flat in viman nagar, koregaon park and kalyani nagar..and its expensive for fully furnished to tell you the truth

the broker i worked with said the college kids ruined it for everyone in viman nagar cause there bad habits and partying ways and thats why they dont allow singles to live in that area anymore but im sure they are speaking of single males LOL. at viman nagar and kalyani nagar they were showing my fully furnished flats from 21k and above. but with fully furnished your looking at 50k and above deposit and broker charges cause brokers dont come cheap in Pune.

Hi Chiefcheef... Thanks anyway, though the update is a bit 'disappointing' ;-)
Have you finalized on any in those areas?

If you had a 'good' deal with the broker, kindly share his number... I should be there in 1st week of August during weekend... and planning to see some houses.

Hello chief...well earlier brokers used to charge 1 months rent...now-a-days they've come upto 1 and half months...if you had pursuaded a little he might have come down to 1 and half months rent...its usually the trick to ask for more and bargain and come down to the amount they usually charge

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum and the reason I came here is same to what is being discussed on this thread (Moving to Pune from Blr with family)

My office wil be in Yerwada and I have thought about zeroing in on Magarpatta to look for 2 BHK apartments

Can anyone of you help me know better about this area? (or would you suggest any other area)
Connectivity (Google says 20 min between Magarpatta to Yerwada - What is it practically)
How good is this area for basic amenities and living (i have heard it is a place with a lot of greenery around - I like to have a good track to jog every morning and Blr gives me many of them - will i get a similar option here?
The rental websites say 2BHk (unfiurnished) is available between 15-17K?

Thanks for the info on the brokerage.

Hi abismile...since your office is in yerwada I would recommend you to look for a flat in viman nagar. It would fit perfectly in your budget and will be closer to work as well. Magarpatta has a terrible amount of traffic during rush hours. It'll take you an hour to travel from Yerwada to Magarpatta whereas viman nagar would just be 5-10 minutes away.

HappySouls usually the deposit is around 3 months of your rent.

Chiefcheef you got an amazing deal.

Hi! I've moved in to Pune from Bangalore too - just about a week back. So I'm still grappling with the differences and hoping to iron out the rough ends. Would be good to catch up sometime to talk. Hope you've found something close to office - it seems the Pune distance concept is quite different from Bangalore's definition of distance, really.
