We are planning 2-3 days visit to Pune in the Ganesh Festival. We have been visiting Pune each year during Ganesh Festival since last 7 years. However we never got a good accomodation here. To find a budgetary accommodation for 10 people has been a problem.

Can someone tell me good hotel or lodge for 10 people ( 2 rooms)in the range 500-800?? For 2 rooms it should not cost more than 1500. That's our constraint. We just need it for 1 night stay & next morning we will disappear..

It is better if it in Old Pune city or nearby atleast.

Even i would also like to know if dormitories or rooms with beds are available..that will do..but should be cost efficient...

Now thats a tough one. 2 rooms for having 10 guys? and that too 500 per room.

Just a suggestion why do u want to sleep at night? Just roam around watching the ganpati's in the city till wee hours. Then go to some Mall- freshen up and leave for mumbai

Might be a weird idea but that's as creative I could get for the fees you offer

I've described my stay early this year in the Grand Hotel, here: http://www.indiamike.com/india/pune-...26/#post950273. Might fit the bill; ring them ahead to enquire about availability for as many people. And jamming ten of you into two rooms might be asking a little much (although they're not small), but see what they come up with. They have a (not giant) dorm as well, btw; or "cubicle"-type rooms, rather.

Roaming in the city after seeing ganpatis....we had done it couple of times in the past. Resting in Saras Bag, Parvati, Swargate bus stand...during those days time restriction on loud speakers was not imposed so festival used to carry on late night & saras bag used to open whole night as well. That was very convinient then. Not so now.

Next day we are not going to return Bombay. We will be going to Sjjangad & Thoseghar waterfall. Plus we will have some luggage with us. Roaming with luggage will be tough as per our experince.

Also we will require some rest in the night since we will be tired after a long day...some will come directly to pune from half day work in office..

Considering all this, We must have a lodge or hotel for some rest. Suggestion is good anyways....

I had pathetic experience regarding accommodation so far in Poona.
One is namely Shree Lodge on Tilak Road, near from Swargate end of the road. Charges are high but worse rooms and service.
Second is Guruprasad lodging in Shivajinagar, near to Bank Of Maharashtra Head office Lokmangal in left sides bylanes.

Justforfun, you're really very welcome for totally disregarding my reply in your responses. (I think I actually prefer being called a total pr*ck who doesn't know what he's saying.)

Let's have a guess and think you're one who actually would prefer to, as well as be perfectly able to, figure it out for yourself? You seem to know what you're looking at & not very open to hear alternative takes on it, anyway.

Just land and ask around, it's what I often do; and unlike you presumably, I don't even speak the language nor know my way or nothing. A guidebook needless to say may or may not come in handy, they're just as available where you live.
