Hi Folks,

In correlation w/ my other post: http://www.indiamike.com/india/pune-...-pune-t114184/

It seems to me that the transportation mode offered in Pune is as follow:
- auto-rickshaw
- taxi

My question is if how much would those two costs for say a 10km trips within the city?

Also, anybody know if there is such thing as a transportation rental service? (I'm looking for something like a monthly pick-up service arrangment)

Thanks,

bbghanouz - Trust me the rickshaws are a big pain in the A$$. (Mods pardon my words )

You can actually free yourself of the hassle if you have the budget for a Radio Cab. Wings Radio cabs is a good service provider at just a little over the richshaw cost. Check out the site to know more. (www.wingsradiocabs.com)

If you have decided on your plans and also have fixed specific timings for everyday (maybe otherwise) I could ask for an arrangement with a friend of mine. He works in the admin for a company in hinjewadi. All the pickup and drops by all the cab vendors fall under his scope. I always get some good deals from him when i need a cab on hire

My email is henkyarx8 - et - gmail.com

( I don't know how to do PM in IndiaMike)

Thanks,
There is no service -
I said I could ask my friend if an arrangement can be made.(Sorry if I sounded I had some arrangements already done)
Let me check with my friend if he can suggest some good deal. HE would have helped me out if it was a week or twos affair. Not sure about monthly rates and all.
I will get back to you on this.

+ I was going through the wings radio website and they also claim to have some carpooling arrangement.

In Baner/Aundh the autowalas have ric stands notorious for going without meter. One such stand is exactly outside my society.

If a passing ric who is not from the area but just came to drop off his customer and gets a new one because he goes by meter.
The autowala goons will start fighting the outsider ric and also the person sitting in it.

A month or 2 ago there was a huge fight with a lady and police were called. Trust me the autowalas are a huge nuisance (the exceptions are rare)

For the OP who would appear phoerner - the autowalas in baner/aundh/hinjewaadi are bound to expect a premiuim amount. (Thats the tragedy)

Hence am not too keen on him taking a ric. Its really a mental game which one wont want to play every day. But then I could be proven wrong by some good autowaala
