What are the most preferred travel destinations in India ?

Beaches, Hill Stations, Historial or Heritage sites, Jungle & wild life safaris, Adventure destinations , others what ??

nice thread!!

my favourite are the "scenery" destinations. i like mountains, not particularly hill stations. so i choose "regions" like ladakh, gharwals, upper himachal and sikkim for an answer.

I like hillls and adventure sites..... cause...........

I like Hills and very Hinduified cities., like good olde Banares, or Delhi. I'm not sure about actual Hill stations, I've been to Shimla and Ooty, they were both pretty straight! I like small villages, up hills off the main road, preferably not much happening in the way of pool rooms and hangouts too. Mind you I like the sea side too..... Bo**lox to it <<<<<< I JUST LOVE INDIA >>>>>!!

In the winter: beaches. In the spring: wildlife and adventure locations. In the summer: hill stations. In the fall, historical, pilgrimage and heritage sites. During holidays: cities.

Hi

Is it possible to add one more Himalaya in Indian map :naughty: ?

torryquine Jan 19th, 2005 13:50

I don't see an option titled "All of it"

..so I had to go for the 'adventure destination' choice, because that's what India is for me :D

My first choice for our next trip would be to head straight back to the Himalayas - I'm with you one that one Somnath - but Mr TQ has a soft-spot for his place of birth, Assam. I think we may need to compromise and head for the hills of Arunachal Pradesh!

Honestly though, I'm has happy wandering round a bustling market, puzzling at the carvings on an old temple, dodging the tuk-tuks in Delhi [shock] or watching the quiet pace of village life. I loved it all - really all!

Ohhhh........aztec :) ,
We have a number of monuments with marvelous piece of art like Khjuraho, Ajanta – Elora, Konark, Selim Chisti’s Majar at Fatehfur Sikri, Dilwara temple at Mt. Abu, Sher Shah’s Maqbara at Sasaram and many more. They have their unique identity – own characteristic, those are (may be) superior to Taj. But can we say these are ‘Enough’ (please close your eyes and try to recollect the feeling what was during the first visit to Taj !)?

My friend, Ghats are good but not enough. Sample attached.

My most vivid Indian memories are of tiger-spotting, hiking in Uttaranchal and Ladakh and camelling through the desert, so 'advernture' would be my choice.
I visited the hill stations of Munnar, Shimla, Almora, Kausani and Gwaldam, and none of them are that impressive; rather crowded, dirty and noisy places. Almora's the pick of the lot with a great little traffic-free bazaar on the ridge.

Yeah Ok,
I agreed, more the number of mountains there are, better it will be.
This country is beautiful and there is no doubt abt it.

Your himalayas snap was great.

somnath Jan 20th, 2005 11:54

Hey....

Hey Aztec,
That snap was not taken by me [noway] !!!!! It's from my collection (from the web only). I like the majestic charisma of the Kanchenjongha in that picture.
