Which camera to buy

hey friends i am new and not familiar to cameras latest technology....i want to buy a camera with 8x optical zoom with 16.1 megapixles or more..features like face detection or smile detection and panorma should be there ... i do not want to compromise with picture quality or hd recordingit can be 720p or 1080p but not less than 720p... can buy till 8500...suggestions please...

You can check out Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W730 or Canon PowerShot A4000.

Is Lumix in India cheaper ? Panasonic makes some really nice line of Lumix cameras.

No idea, I'd let the OP research. Overall, between canon and sony, I'd recommend the former for compacts. My father uses a canon compact (Ixus line) and it has been a reliable backup to the nikon DSLR that i lug around. On occasion, the size (and consequent discreetness) has helped get a shot that a DSLR was sure to miss.
