Looking to buy a Nikon D810 or D750 Body only. I have a few FX lenses already. I am just making my mind to kind of notch up a few lakhs more and get a D5. So far I have bought everything from amazon and never had any problem. But just got to know that a few people buy their camera stuff from Chandni Chowk. Pritam is one name that i read somewhere.

Now question - if i buy it from them, will it be cheaper than amazon? Typically how much. Nikon D750 is available for around 1.10 lakh and D810 - for 1.68 on online shops.

Some one else will help with the camera question.
My question is how did your plan go to settle in the hills?

I could not go. We tried for an year or so. Did a reiki of many places across Himachal and Uttaranchal. Zeroed in on few places. Tried to buy land...but everytime we tried that, someone else from teh local population bought it instantly.

One of my friends though went ahead and resettled. But he had a very bad experience and eventually came back to Delhi after a few years. His view is - and I neither support it or negate it - that till the time you g as a tourist to the hills, you are more than welcome...but when you look to permanently settle down, you are frowned upon and have to face very non-cooperative kind of treatment. So owing to this he claims he had to change the place also a couple of times. But eventually returned back.

Sad to hear that. You had the right idea and the attitude to go with it. You would have added Value to any community. It is their loss.

:-)

Anyhow no regrets. Life goes on. Have done a lot of hill tours since then. Recently did Ladakh also. Now going to attend the "Raid de Himalaya" :-)
