Hi, I am confused after reading the forum information. Do I need to obtain the health certificate from govt vet ? I hear that it requires the dog to be physically present at that office and only one govt vet there. Is it required when you take your dog accompanied? If this is really required then Is it possible to get this certificate without taking ur pet there based on the certificate you obtained from a non govt vet. Many thanks

Are you exporting a dog for commercial reasons or taking your pet with you?

There are lots of threads on India Mike dealing with taking your pet overseas.
Have a look at http://www.indiamike.com/india/pets-...y-pets-t92963/

Thanks, I read it but there is contradictory information as to if you accompany the dog is the govt vet stamped health certificate is required and if that can be obtained through an agent so you don't go to that office. Could you plz clarify to me?

This information is correct.

If you go yourself to the animal husbandry department you have to take your pet with you. It is hassle because it happens that you turn up and the government vet is not there, so you have to wait, come back, etc.

Agents have a deal with them that allows them to get the paper without showing the animal. So more convenient but seriously expensive, especially in Mumbai.

If you go yourself, it is best if you get your own vet to make the health certificate and get your own vet as well as the government vet to sign and stamp it.
The time will come when men will look upon the murder of animals as they look upon the murder of men.

Thanks a lot! I am ok even if it's expensive. Could you please give me contact details of some agent in Mumbai who can get me this paper without having to take my dog there? I already found one contact on this forum and have reached out to him Ashok. He is still checking though. Thanks a lot

I have contacted furry flyers already and they do not provide the export certificate without bringing the dog to the govt office. Similarly I contacted two more agents through web and the answer is no. So I am wondering when you say it's expensive but through an agent can be done such that we don't need to visit the govt office. Any help?

They used to do it without showing the dog...perhaps they have changed. If so, no solution but to show. As far as I know Fury Flyers has a monopoly in Mumbai but it may have changed recently. If so you may as well contact the department directly. I do not have the details for Mumbai but it is part of the animal husbandry department, ministry of agriculture.

Hi, Did you eventually do this yourself or did you get furry flyers to do it?
